It’s the last crate this month, but hardly the least. October’s Sock Artisan Crate features dyer Artistic Ewe’s handiwork on a delightful 75% Superwash Merino, 25% Nylon base called Fandango. Fandango has 450 yards per each skein, and comes in a soft color perfectly suited to this month’s mood board: Celery Stalk. 

This soft colorway will really highlight the handiwork of our designer this month, Star Athena. Star’s pattern is called Doubledown, and is a quickie ankle sock that uses the yarn double-stranded to great effect! You might notice that the sock isn’t featured in the same colorway as the finished yarn. We had switched gears with the dyer halfway through the process, but this sock is so fast, Star already had it finished before we could let her know! (If that’s not an endorsement for making some of these as holiday presents, we don’t know what is)!

Along with the delicious yarn and pattern, you’ll also receive this month’s Sock Crate extra, a ChiaoGoo 40″, US 2 needle perfect for perfecting your Magic Loop technique. Get ready to speed along on these socks like lightening! 

We know you’ve been waiting for the BIG REVEAL of this crate, and now it’s time! This month’s Membership Crate is gorgeous and perfectly suited to Fall. Members will receive two skeins of one color of our newest Audine Wools yarn: Halo DK. 

From left to right, the colors are Olive, Ash, Blush, and Mouse--all of them designed to be great accessory or garment yarns. This DK weight yarn is a blend of 50% Alpaca, 30% Merino, and 20% Nylon. The nylon content counteracts a little bit of Alpaca’s natural drape and slinkiness, giving this yarn a bouncy, soft hand with a slight halo you’re going to adore. Each skein has 236 yards so you’ve got a total of 472 to play with (and more, if you take advantage of the stock we’ll be adding to the shop later in the month)! The yarn is a two ply, and shows off soft, simple stitches beautifully, as evidenced in our two patterns for the month. 

Crochet designer Breann Mauldin dreamed up Moss Boss, a clever double-layered, bandana-style cowl that will keep your neck toasty and your outfit on point. Shown here in Olive, we think it will be equally stunning in any of the colorways. The pattern is fairly easy, too, making it an accessible project for any crocheter.

Knitting designer Pearl Knitter (Clara) is from Spain, and created Huerta, a delicate, draping shawl that features elegant, leaf-like lace and a delicate border. You’ll love knitting lace large-scale with DK weight yarn--it works up quickly and is easy to follow, with both charted and written directions available to you within the pages of the magazine. 

Oh, we mentioned the magazine already, but now you know what yarn is featured in this stunning cover shot! Each shipment this month will include a copy, and you can also find a digital download version (follow the link in the issue’s Table of Contents) for those of you who prefer reading on an e-reader or tablet. 

It’s finally February and that means another round of fantastic Knitcrates headed to doorsteps and mailboxes around the world. This month’s theme, Petrichor, inspired glossy, saturated tones for our Membership Crate. Each shipment will contain two skeins of a single color of Knitologie’s new base, Glowing Worsted, an absolutely exquisite blend of 40% Merino, 30% Silk, and 30% Baby Alpaca. Knitologie is one of our most fun, creative brands, and we love sharing a new Sock colorway with you every month through the Knitologie Sock Club. For sock knitters just looking to add single skeins of unique, inspirational yarn to stash, for shawl knitters who love the surprise of mixing colorways, or for sock yarn blanket builders, this is a great subscription without any frills. The yarn’s fantastic dye job speaks for itself, and this month is no exception, with our theme of Petrichor (the scent of the world after a rain) as the inspiration. 

This month’s colorway is called Reflections, and features beautiful deep wine tones fading into earthy browns, a pop of bright yellow, and a glowing, aquamarine with touches of vivid green. It reminds us of lights on wet pavement, dark, rainy days, and the moodiness of a world encased in water. 

We’re pretty sure our members match our excitement when it comes to the Artisan Crate each month--after all, who doesn’t love seeing how different dyers and designers interpret the beautiful themes? October’s Crate features the work of the very talented Yarn Fairy and the Pixies, a brand dedicated to bringing whimsy, magic and fun in to your knitting and crocheting projects. This month, they’ve helped us ship everyone in the club two skeins of ultra-squishy, 100% Super Fine Merino. This 21.5 Micron count Merino (that’s technical speak for SUPER SOFT) is the ultimate in squishable Sport weight, and each skein of Elf Kisses is loaded with 288 yards, so you’re getting 576 yards to play with. 

The colorway they designed for us is called Brushed Steel, and is a soft gray with purple undertones that show up beautifully during your knitting process. You’ll be enchanted watching them appear throughout either of this month’s beautifully designed knitting projects from designer Lana Jois.

Are you ready for it? We know you are! This month’s Sock Membership Crate is a stunning, cool take on the theme, and we are so excited to share with you. Dyed on Delight Sock from our Vidalana line, this yarn is an 80% Superwash Merino Wool with 20% Nylon that you’ll swear has some cashmere in it (yes, it’s that soft)! I mean, how cool are those socks?! Kate wanted to create an easily accessible argyle pattern (without the tricky intarsia), and we think she’s done a great job. Can you guys believe it’s OCTOBER already? I think it’s safe to say (even if the weather doesn’t believe us in Miami) that it’s Fall. Hang onto your decorative gourds, friends--we’ve got a lot of fun, new, Knitcrate awesomeness headed your way this month. First, let’s talk about the theme: Verdigris. 

Verdigris is the specific name for copper’s natural, greenish patina. In the case of our theme this month, it’s the fading green of late fall plants. Hannah was inspired by the combination of greens, terracotta, faded peach, misty grays and gray-purples, and other colors and pulled together this mood board: 

As always, the way that the colors emerged is totally up to interpretation, and we can’t wait to see what you think of the final results! We’ve also got another surprise up our sleeves this month--a magazine in every shipment. Starting with October, every crate will include a full color, beautiful magazine that features information about the yarns, patterns, designers and dyers, plus some extra fun stuff (like a more in-depth mood board, and a sneak peek for next month and our new Partner Crate). We could not be more excited to unveil the second theme of 2018, Petrichor. The word Petrichor means “the pleasant smell that follows the first rain after a dry period”. If you’ve ever stood outside after a long, soothing rainfall, you know this smell - a mix of earthiness, and green-ness, and freshness. We wanted to capture the cleansing of a hearty rain with this month’s theme, which showcases saturated, moody jewel-tones and rich color.
