Magic Colors

As an addition to my previous ask: I think the show tries to draw a pretty clear line between how it defines inheritable magic vs uninheritable magic. All of the Mills by blood (Cora, Zelena, Regina, Robin) have magic, because it's inheritable magic. But Henry does not, because Emma's magic is solely through her Savior ability, and his father was born prior to Rumple gaining magic. And sometimes inheritable magic can skip people, like the Arendelle ice magic did with Anna.

In the Underworld, Rumple was setting up a spinning wheel because Hades needed Rumple's blood to open a portal, because apparently that's something a Dark One's blood can do. Quick question: 1. If that's true, why did Rumple need to spend years training Regina to cast the Dark Curse to open a portal to get Bae? 2. Can someone remind me how Rumple is the Dark One again? Emma was the Dark One, then Hook was the Dark Two, then Rumple put something on the sword to channel all the Dark Ones... into him? Wait never mind, I don't care. 3. Hey, Rumple, if Hades needs your blood to bring a living soul into the Underworld, then isn't your unborn baby actually quite safe from behind taken by him, UNLESS you help him make this portal? 4. Why haul out that big weird spindle wheel to open a portal when all you need to do that is blood and you're just going to slash your palm open with a weird dagger anyway? Obviously, my questions are pointless.

Merlin even started to kill Snow, but that didn't take (personal theory: Snow is actually a demon) because Merlin was somehow able to supersede the laws of magic that theoretically bind the premise of this show together just by flaring his nostrils.
