Friday Five #1
Write a piece that contains the following five elements:
a smartphone
something lost
a bag
a piece of fruit
a misunderstanding
"Kuso...Where the hell is it?" Hikaru found himself asking as he searched all over the place for his USB. The last he remembered, he had told himself to put keep it close since it had important information regarding the resort for a meeting that he was going to have soon. He had already searched all over his desk for it but it was as if the tiny data storage had disappeared into thin air. Hikaru's brow furrowed as he scratched his head.
"Seriously? I need to find this thing."
As hands searched all over the desk again, lifting up papers and folders, Hikaru turned his head as his cell phone began to ring. He lifted his phone and seeing that it was Aija, he smiled and immediately answered, putting the phone between his ear and the crook of his neck so he could keep looking. "Hello, wife."
"Hello husband of mine. Are you by chance looking for something important?"
Hikaru's hands paused. "As a matter of fact I am. I'm looking for my USB drive."
A soft laugh came into his ears and he had a feeling the mystery was solved. "I take it that you have what I need?" He asked Aija while sinking down into his office chair.
"That I do Mr. Mizuno. You can thank your 1-year-old for that."
"Nari-chan?" Now Hikaru was really confused but he leaned back with a growing grin. His daughter was a bundle of chaos now that she was able to walk around. "What happened?"
"I think Nari was trying to be helpful today seeing me make our lunches. So she took it upon herself to add and remove things from our bags. I was trying to find her fruit I had packed in her bag earlier for lunch at the park. Imagine my surprise when I found not a bag of grapes and a banana but a very nice, and may I add still tightly secured, USB drive."
Hikaru chuckled at this story. "Oh, Nari...what are we going to do with her?"
"Keep her and love her for the rest of her days." Aija answered and Hikaru could hear a mixture of love and amusement in her voice.
"That we will, Koi. Do you think you can bring me my drive? I need it for a meeting."
"Say no more, my love. It will be done. Also, will you make sure you keep the fruit safe? Our child was not amused that her actions cost her a snack time."
"The fru-?" Hikaru reached down and grabbed his suitcase quickly, opening it up. After taking papers out, his laughter echoed through the office as he came face to face with a ripe banana and a plastic bag full of red grapes.
"The fruit will be safe and sound when you two get here."
"Thank you, my love. Be there soon."
"Ja ne."
After hanging up the phone, Hikaru sighed shaking his head, glad that the misunderstanding had been resolved and all too eager to give a hug to the little helper in his life.
