I felt like I wasn’t supposed to ask but what exactly was the “incredible power” that made everybody want to keep the One Ring?
Like yeah I get it, Sauron whispers in your ear and offers you everything you ever wanted while tormenting you with fear but like. Practically speaking all it seemed to DO was turn you invisible and slow your roll.
And there’s still castles and fortresses and locked doors and shit. It takes you 2 years to walk anywhere. Immortal snail type situation.

#I have read the books and watched the movies and it never really became 100% clear#Except as maybe a metaphor for defecting to the enemy and exchanging information for safety#Otherwise#As a kid I kinda assumed since it was part of Saruman they were gonna like. Try to hold it hostage or ransom it back idk#Edited cause I forgot the aging thing#But like back when shit got started like half the world was immortal anyways#Ohhh is that why mankind specifically wanted it#That seems stupid#Everyone you ever loved is gonna die in front of you dumbass
