@orphus sent: ❛ i'm never leaving you. you're stuck with me. ❜ from KEL to SUNNY (in case you didn't know) ☾
Kel was… a funny guy sometimes. The way that he spoke, the way that he carried himself. He could be so uplifting, and he didn't even seem to realize it. How much positivity could lace itself through almost everything he did before it became staggering? How much could he be everything Sunny wasn't before it had to be intentional?
'Is that a threat?' were the first words that rose to his mind, prompted by the phrasing.
Kel didn't know about what had happened. There was no way that he could know, or he wouldn't be so quick to offer such words to him. If they had even a clue about what he'd done, none of his friends would offer him such kind words. Kel wouldn't have waited so long for him. It felt so terribly dishonest to accept those words of his, to attempt at all to hold him to them when there was so much that he wasn't aware of.
And yet Sunny wanted to. So badly did he want to hold onto those words, to clutch them close to his chest and repeat them to himself again and again later like a prayer. When his dreams turned sour again, and he had to wander through the worst moments of his life again in his sleep.
He raised a pale hand, as if to place it on Kel's shoulder, as a friend might. As he'd seen Hero to do Kel many times over in his dreams, a gesture he recognized as being friendly. His gaze lingered on his dominant hand. It was… the very same one that— Swiftly, he returned it to his side. No, he was too short to do that anyway. Hero was much taller than he'd ever be. It wouldn't have the same effect.
His response was soft, his eyes kept down. “I hope that's true.” Truly, he did. With every fiber of his being. Sure, Kel's persistence could be annoying sometimes, but he was so genuine. He'd never given up on him yet. If Sunny were to allow himself one hope, it was that this might remain after the truth broke. Whenever that would be.
