A DP orphan AU, hear me out
We already know Dannys and Jazzes parents could die in a freak accident, possibly being turned to blob ghosts as punishment for how they treated ghosts when they were alive, and Jazz technically isn't old enough to take care of Danny by herself
Sam comes from a rich family so assassination doesn't seem to far off the mark, the chances of her being at a friends house or in a desolate part of their house are high, maybe she wasn't put on the list entirely
The family Tucker comes from is mid class leaning lower class, so the chances of his family dying in an accident or still medium, but nothing he would consider traumatizing compared to what happened to Danny or Sam so he shrugs off his parents death
They find themselves in an orphanage, Jazz ending up in a foster home, separated from her last piece of family aside from the few days of the week her 'new parents' let her go to school, preferring she stays homeschooled
Danny, Sam and Tucker are targeted as canon fodder for bullying, insults and all that stuff as usual, but the intensity and rates of it happening heighten exponentially, Sam snapping back when Danny or Tucker are around
They get lucky and manage to find their way past grades slipping through the cracks, being on opposite wings of the orphanage and the ghost attacks that have seemed to pick up on consistency with the portal being jammed open
Dannys powers end up electricity based with ice as a subset as cold temperatures was the catalyst for his parents death, he focuses his energy on electricity, sure that played a part, but he didn't have many other strong as fuck powers
Tuckers hacking skills have heightened greatly as a way of coping with the underlying and ignored trauma he has, he can break past virtually any firewall and decode and decode almost any passwords after so much 'practice' as he calls it
Sam has taken up chemicals, mixing and matching, finding ways to create all sorts of mixtures and solutions, paralysis, pheromones, poison and so much more all fixed to ectoplasm infused darts she can shoot at ghosts and have work
No ends up adopting them until two years pass, Danny deterring people by 'faking' that he brings haunting with him, floating over books and nearly killing a few of them, Tucker being nearly adopted multiple times, he made them return him by hacking their accounts and the such, Sam simply being undesired as a child by most people, 'to much maintenance' as they put it
Once Jazz is officially old enough, she manages to find a way to get all three of them under her custody, she treats them as siblings, but they get taken away by someone that 'does the job better' as they put it, she only got to keep them around for a few weeks
Of course, the three always come crawling back bloody and beat to either Jazz or the orphanage, making sure to put on a show that the person that they were given to abused them in ways beyond human comprehension
They more often then not got taken back in without having to give an encore of their mastered act, most wounds stemming from ghost fights, but when they have to give an encore more then once, they give up on their acts and just force the one who adopted them to return them to the orphanage or Jazz, always getting sent back after a week of what could be considered psychological torture
Juggling everything has a harsh effect on them, especially when they get separated, thats when sparks fly, they more often then not have to put up a fake ransom and just keep their sibling with the money as well, win win, or just take their sibling by force
