Ghostspeak being a language that’s not wholly inherent to the ghost when they’re first formed. Similar to how an infant doesn’t come out of the womb capable of speaking in full sentences, ghosts also have to develop their ghostspeak as well.
They’re able to ‘coo’ and ‘babble’ and eventually figure out how to form the proper words as time goes on, and they learn faster around other ghosts who speak in ghostspeak around them. Until eventually they can hold their own in a conversation.
(The equivalent of cooing/babbling is emotional projection that slowly becomes interspersed with the intended projection of words as they get the hang of ghostspeak.)
DP Headcanon:
Danny, due to being Phantom, learns a lot of things he does not want, or need to know. Like top teir embarrassing, blackmail worthy information, and Danny is just privy to it all.
And its litterally never on purpose, he just finds him in situations where hes invisible and happens to overhear stuff like: how Dr. Parker, the dentist, was getting a divorce with his wife because he cheated with the receptionist but if he promises his wife the kids she'll say the divorce was mutual do that Dr. Parker still has some dignity, or how the Florist, Mrs. May, was actually going to leave her shop to her granddaughter, and not her son because she knew her son was horrible with money, or how the Middleschool Science Teacher and Librarian had actually been dating for a year even though it went against policy.
All of it was none of Danny's buisness, and he was happy to pretend he never heard a word of it- but sometimes it is serious. Like some girls who mentioned the bus driver always made uncomfortable gestures towards them, or when a group to highschool guys were going to set off fireworks in the gym during an assembly, or when two cops ignored a serious call because they were flirting with two women they pulled over- and in those cases Danny had to act. He never did anything as Danny or as Phantom, but an anonymous tip here and there, with some photographed evidence occasion, was enough go take down those types of threats. And if they didnt, then Phantom would step in.
Dpxdc head canon
Tim likes his partners either extremely competent like can rule the world and bring about universal peace or extremely incompetent like burns water, there is no in between and here danny comes in, he is the ghost king and rules over everything perfectly, the ghosts aren't causing havoc and he has gone through and completed centuries of paperwork at the mere age of 19 and has enough time to take a vacation. He decides to go to Gotham for fun and stops some crimes super efficiently (not as phantom because he was in publicand couldn'tgo ghost) in front of red Robin so RR decides to follow this guy because he has to be a meta and not because he was hot and his competency kink kicked in and he stalks Danny. Now Danny kinda knows, but it's like it's future Danny's problem and blocks it out of his mind, forgetting. He goes home and is hungry and decides let's make cereal and in some godforsaken unexplainable way burns and now RR needs to protect this some how competent and incompetent man that he has fallen in love with and Danny? He is just there for the vibe.
Thinking about those amnesiac Ghost King fics where danny forgets being a human after he's crowned king, but throw in some batfam
this kid that they had grown so close to, has a near death fight, and they feel the overwhelming relief of knowing that they wont have to bury their honorary bird
..
only for that relief to be immediately stripped away, because now danny has no idea who they are, who he is, or what was just happening
and suddenly, hes pulled into the realms to be crowned, never to see his family again
...that is, until the justice league inevitably has to request High King Phantom to save the universe

A Shadow (click for clarity)
It’s been a while since I’ve posted ab Shadow, Jazz’s contracted Ancient :3 One of its unique abilities is to imitate the appearances of the living, but they’re not always accurate due to its weak eyesight.
A headcanon that I have ab Shadow is that its favorite human form to copy is Batman’s. Not Bruce, but specifically Batman, bc he appears dark, shadowy, and very tall. Shadow will often follow Batman and watch him in order to copy him better. Afterwards, Shadow will accompany Jazz and Jason as Batman on the occasion whenever they’re in Crime Alley.

DPxDC Clockwork Drabble
Clockwork has decided that Jason Todd is incapable of taking care of himself after becoming a revenant and he simply has to intervene (yes, has to, stupid eyeballs).
And by intervening he means pseudo-adopting; because that’s just how ghosts work
So he goes to Gotham City, he goes in disguise as a man with sun-kissed skin, crimson-brown eyes with a the one having the scar, and stark white hair reaching about shoulder length and often having the top half pulled up and back
His name is Horace Clockwork, a forty-two year old man who just moved into Crime Alley who walks with a black cane that has a golden clock gear shaped topper and dresses like he’s in a medieval romance novel
(It’s been awhile since he’s been in a human disguise, okay?)
The first step of taking in Jason is to appeal to his more ghostly side; aka, bandage Red Hood’s wounds when he crashes through his apartment’s window one night.
After Hood wakes up, “Horace” demands he stays the night to heal. Next day he’s made waffles that almost (almost) rival Alfred’s.
To appeal to his more human side, Horace signed up for many of Jason Todd’s charities and volunteer events. He even starts baking and providing dinner for anyone less fortunate who knocks on his door; whether that’s what they were asking for or not.
Horace Clockwork becomes Crime Alley’s Saint, creating blanket and pillow piles in his living room for kids on those colder nights or when the heater breaks. He’s always seen leaving Tupperware full of food on people’s doors, knocking but not staying so the people who need it can take it without feeling any guilt or pity.
Through all this, he inevitably grabs Jason’s attention. The Red Hood visits him once a week for dinner after interrogating him and making sure his intentions are pure.
“Eat your dinner before I shove it down that hood of yours,” He waved a spoon at him the first day he showed up, thus starting their weekly dinners
Jason looks into Horace himself, sometimes in disguise sometimes not, but overall finds the guy harmless and even starts to see him as a father figure.
Bruce finds out and does his whole Batman Stalking procedure, where he finds out that Horace Clockwork isn’t a real man despite the ID and driver license the man carries with him in his name.
(He controls Time, not the government)
Batman confronts Horace one day in an alleyway, demanding answers and interrogating him.
“Who are you?” Batman demands
“Nunya Bis,” Horace answers, “It’s short for none ya business,”
Horace manages to evade all Batman’s questions and his cornering after that night until Clockwork decides he’s tired of the man’s stalking and manages to get a message to both Red Hood and Batman so they meet him at the same time.
It’s there that he confesses everything. Which leads to Clockwork holding Jason on his hip like an overworked mother as he yells at Batman for “not treating his dead adjacent son right!” And “did you even do any research on raising a revenant? You have access to the Justice League Dark!”
Jason loves it, Bruce is exhausted, and the rest of the Batfam have adopted Horace as their second father.
(It also helps that Alfred and Clockwork are old buddies)
I love the idea of Danny’s obsession being showing love and care to people
For the longest time he thought it was protecting people after all that’s what he did for 3 years but during those years he realized it wasn’t protection, he still protected town but it wasn’t his obsession
Then he thought it was space, he had been obsessed with it for years and had originally wanted to become an astronaut or at least work for NASA in some way, but that wasn’t it either although it took longer for him to realize
When he first came to Gotham, on the run from his parents with the help of Clockwork, he got some forged documents made it look like he was really born in this universe and everything, he went to school for aerospace engineering so he could work for NASA
He had to work a job, he originally started at a cafe and realized he loved when people complimented his baked goods or his brews. He felt better when he helped street kids, after all living near Crime Alley meant there were plenty of kids who need even just food. He slowly realized his obsession was caring for and showing love to other people, the love he sorely lacked, sure Jazz tried she really did but she was only a child too, she couldn’t provide what Danny needed no matter how hard she tried because she needed it too and never got it
He finished school after picking up degrees to start a business, he then started his cafe, Phantom Zone, a little on the nose but he liked it and it drew ghost like crazy
