A Basic Profile of Cinnamon
An Asian evergreen tree that is a member of the Laurel Family. The highest quality cinnamon is grown in Sri Lanka. Was used in the mummification process in ancient Egypt. Grows yellow flowers in the summer which are followed by purple berries.

Avoid ingesting if you have ulcers - may irritate condition. Over chewing of cinnamon gum can deaden the nerves in your mouth and cause inflammation. Is a dermal toxin and should NEVER be applied topically; will cause skin irritation and is especially damaging to the mucus membrane.
Cultivation and propagation: Is a tropical plant - will not grow well in most regions of North America. Does not grow well in pots. Cinnamon Sticks are formed using the bark of the plant. Oil is extracted from the leaves and buds of the plant. Oil from leaves isn't as strong as oil from the buds, but oil from the leaves is also less likely to cause dermal irritation than oil from the buds.

For Yule of 2016, Selene, Ember and I glued cinnamon sticks into stars, which we hung as ornaments on our yule tree at our ritual site. We camped out along side a lake and decorated a live tree with strings of live cranberries, our star ornaments, dried and spiced apple and orange slices, and pomanders. Our tree was lovely, and it smelled heavenly. We left some of the cranberries, cinnamon stars, and apple and orange slices as offerings. - Cecilia
