Food Fantasy fandom, old and new!
I am planning on creating an OC project that's inspired by Food Fantasy, using Food Souls/personified food. I was hoping to reach out and potentially get some input on what flaws or loopholes were in the main story (aside from it never being completed), or just the overall lore in general. This can be about any of the regions, any of the organizations, characters (both human & food soul), etc.
You can also send your response to my inbox if you think it'll be too long in the comments section or a reblog. You guys can also ask me questions about the world I'm making and whatnot, if any of you are curious. Thank you all in advance!
6. Where would they want to go on a first date? & 21. Your character is charged with a crime they did commit. What was the crime? 💕
aaaaaah thank you so much for the ask, @numenoria!!!! (we won't talk about the obnoxiously shrill squeal this ask elicited from me)
ask game found here. for simplicity's sake (since I truly could ramble on about every last one of my OCs, but I don't want to scare anyone away 😅, I'm using Tilda, specifically as she exists in the modern Rings of Power AU, Old Town Road (insert shameless and embarrassing self-promo here)).
6. where would they go on a first date?
well, I really think Tilda would be happy with just about anything. she grew up wealthy, sure, but a lot of the extra money her parents had was funneled directly into the ranch, so she never really developed a taste for finery and bells and whistles. she'd be fully content going to a local bar that allowed dancing, or going on a ride on her family's land, with something like a nice picnic at the end of the journey.
interestingly enough, this question got me thinking of the contrast with Halbrand's style of living, and a potentially amusing scenario that could crop up as a result 😂.
21. your character is charged with a crime they did commit. what was the crime?
oooh I love this one! so an upcoming plot point for the story is actually the discovery that Tilda's family is in a pretty sizeable amount of debt, and that debt is only going to get worse given all the damage the place took during the fire. in the story itself, she goes about trying to help alleviate that debt in a way that I'm not going to spoil here, without being asked to, but, in an alternate universe of this alternate universe (lol), I could absolutely see her going to any means necessary to get at least some of the money, herself as a way to attempt making amends for how she left, a year ago.
long story short, I'd imagine it wouldn't take too long for her to recall that an old friend's father was heavy into the drug trafficking business. and after that, it wouldn't be too long before she tried roping him into letting her in on the game, so to speak.
after that, given her penchant for acting recklessly, and considering the consequences of said actions much, much later, I don't think it'd really take long for her to wind up behind bars.
Finally started with the character detail sheets and I am so proud of myself that I accomplished one today 🫣 I want to do one with alternate hairdo and accessoires too.
Does he look more like a Jamie or a Brody? 🤔 Update: I think I have to make him a Jamie even if he feels more like a Brody to me but it's too close to sth that is my everything currently on Insta and I want to post my OCs without people thinking it's connected to that or sth else X3)
Do the characters have voice claims?
Yes! They do! Feel free to ask for any character you'd want to know this for, here are the main seven.
Adam: Bo Burnham 💛
Star: Awsten Knight, more specifically Awstens lower vocal tone. 💜
Nyx: Ryan Ross. 💚
Rory: Tennessee, The Walking Dead (Game) 🩵
Max: Mitch, The Walking Dead (Game) 🧡
Mike: Varian, Tangled Series ❤️
Barney: Geoff Wigington, from Waterparks 💜

I wanna make a fleshed out post about this but I'm getting ready to head out, but I think one of the biggest things you need to learn as a storyteller - and yes, I do mean need here - is that none of your characters will be 100% a carbon copy of you.
Even if they share all your viewpoints. Even if they have the same insecurities as you. Same age, same race, same religion, same family dynamic - they will not be you. And if you ask "what about my self-insert? Those are inherently me, right?" And while yes, self-inserts are often described as the author, but idealized, it's that idealized where we deviate from the author. They may look exactly like you but actually get noticed by a character who, for all we know, might never interact with the type of character the author is. And so you'll have to write about how a you who is fundamentally the same, but also different, navigates that, drawing upon things you might not actually do in your real life to get your love interest, but something your character would do.
It's the same for more removed original characters. My main character is a self projection, but we're so separate that it seems like he could be a derivative of me, but in a long chain. We both simply want to be loved and accepted by the world due to childhood trauma, but where I took it to mold myself into pleasing everybody and nobody at once so I would always be loved, he took it to lash out and make people hate him so if they have to hate him, they at least have a valid reason.
And I think this is hard to learn, because we're often taught there's Only One Viewpoint - argumentative essays in school made us argue for a side and a lot of the time, presented us biased information easily swaying us to the easier side, which is the right side. But there is no One Viewpoint. There are many viewpoints - some that are illogical, some that are sound but you disagree with, and some that you agree with but not to the same level as others - and multifaceted characters will always have very different viewpoints. They will vary from character to character, and they will vary from character to creator, whether it be in intensity or the general reasoning behind it.
The final girl of No Sense…
welcome to oc-dev! here i will post a lot of “tag your oc” posts, where you reblog and put in the tags which oc it applies to. i’ll also ask various questions that you can reblog to answer about your oc. feel free to answer in character if you wish, or simply describe the original character of your choice. i’ll occasionally drop some of my followers some random questions in their ask box, list some development prompts, and soon i’ll host an oc spotlight for an oc i thought stood out for the month. let me know if you have any other questions or suggestions!
