So i have 2 ideas

one of them being that the hotel serves as a sort of purgatory. Spirits and souls go to this place to stay before going to the afterlife

or-

a place where supernatural creatures go, like demons, spirits from all differnet religouns and mythologies go, this is like the only place where they are actually seen. As well as most likely have human forms.

or

maybe both?

The golden star in the planets eyes is very important. When the star is gold it means that they have their core.

when the star is black it means they are hollow.

If the star is fading in color it means that the core isn't well
