One of the local nurseries currently has a Grammatophyllum scriptum. Grammatophyllum is a genus of very large, epiphytic orchids. The largest species, G. speciosum, can reach weights of a ton or more. These plants, along with Ansellia, grow two types of roots. One kind grows upwards and acts to trap leaves and other organic debris that will nourish the plant as it decomposes. They're sometimes referred to as the "trash basket orchids" as a result.
