#orange lantern

For some context I have a 3 category system for each type of lantern I've seen the turtles as(in drawings and in discussion) and so I put them all into 3 kinds of categories

Personality casting:where they get a ring based on the large overarching personality they have(the one providing the most wild but organized ideas due to different turtles possibly having or getting different rings)

Green casting:the general idea that they would all be thrust into the green lanterns(not a novel or impossible concept considering that if you're from earth there's a 99.9% you'll start as a green lantern)

And the one we'll talk about today. Color casting: basically casting the turtles with a ring that watches there mask. This could lead to similar rings to the personality casting. But there's always been one ring I detest for color casting. The orange lantern ring

Now for a quick little run down. In dc there are several groups of lanterns wielding rings(and sometimes other items) tapped into the emotional spectrum(which is based on things that bring emotion or something like that considering some of these aren't emotions at all). Green for will,red for rage,indigo for compassion, blue for hope, and the top of this one orange for avarice. Or greed.

Now the orange ring is a parasitic ring(it enforces its emotion onto the wielder instead of finding a wielder that embodies that emotion) but like indigo(a fellow parasite) it does have an ability or words for when it finds someone who embodies and feels avarice enough to actually attract one.

Now you might think my problem with Mikey having the ring is that it's a parasitic ring that takes over the host... That's A problem but not THE problem. Donnies color cast ring is indigo and that's another ring that's a parasite.

No my problem is what everyone says for Mikey for attracting the orange ring or using it as if it's a normal ring. It's literally the same thing

'he's greedy for pizza'

Now I can say Mikey in probably a few versions has more then a little bit of an obsession or devotion to pizza(I usually see that only in 2012 Mikey thought so that might be the only one. And I once read a fic that tried to explain this in an interesting way)

But I still don't think an obsession for pizza is enough for that. Is enough for this ring. And I wait and wait and wait for any other example for something he could be greedy about... And no one has anything.

This lede to resent the idea of orange lantern Mikey(despite me loving the idea of trying to write or make a heroic orange lantern)until I brought this up with @sweepclean who I didn't know knew about lanterns and turtles because that's kind of rare crossing it seems. And she brought up the best thought ever as we talked about it.

Yeah Mikey loves pizza(and definitely in series like 2012 is obsessed) but what does Mikey actually always want, even before pizza. What does Mikey always want no matter the universe.

Acceptance. Friends, social interaction and a life with humans where they don't see him as a monster.

Every Mikey craves a form of acceptance, to make friends with other mutants and especially humans. They love human culture and are usually the most social and energetic of the family. And if not social acceptance from humans above then maybe he'd want acceptance from the family. To be taken seriously and believed when he's warming them about something(we literally have an episode where Mikey almost died because he rubbed unstable chemicals on himself in an effort to be better. So they would stop treating him like a goofball.)

And it's that talk with @sweepclean that really made me rethink all my hatred for orange lantern Mikey.

Do I still have strong feelings about orange lantern Mikey compared to a blue or indigo or even green lantern Mikey? I do, but they wained a bit
