Despite how much I wrote for the steps, this is a very simple recipe!! Β Β Β You can use your orange candy for edible spells, gifts, offerings, or to add into other recipes. I will later make a post detailing how to properly make chocolate bars with it, if itβs up itβll be linked [here].Β

2 large OrangesΒ - β§Β Good fortune, luck, divinationΒ β§
1 cup of sugarΒ - β§ Sweetness β§
~1/2 cup of sugar to coat the peels, this is up to taste.

First, wash and peel the orange. For that, slice away the top and bottom of the orange, then make a strip down the middle: you will get a long rectangle type deal! If you want toΒ to reduce bitterness, you can scrape away the white part (this is optional, though). Then, cut the oranges into thin vertical strips, around 1/4 inch or 1cm thick.
Boil the peels in water for 15 minutes, then rinse them with fresh water and repeat.
Add the cup of sugar and more fresh water to a pot then bring that to a boil, until sugar is dissolved. At that point, add your peels, reduce heat, and simmer for 20/25 minutes. Be sure to stir every once in a while!Β
Remove bit by bit, letting the excess syrup slide off the peels. And donβt throw away the syrup!! You can use it as a sweetener for stuff, just like honey. Delicious.
Coat the peels with sugar. Then, spread them on a wire rack and let dry 8-24 hours (one day is best)Β And bam! Theyβre ready!!Β
Put them in a ziplock bag and you can keep them in the fridge for a month or freeze them to conserve them for longer!

These look like the orange hard candy weβd get at the corner store where youβd get a whole paper bag for like ... 10 rupees? I made these by watching a video of a guy painting gouache lemons and then trying to recreate it from memory.
