You said you'd like more questions about your "Death And Pain" writing?
WELL TODAY IS A GOOD DAY-
(note: you don't have to answer all- or if it isn't in your comfort or spoils something)
What gave you the idea to make the story?
Icarus is trying to get home? What happened to have him far away?
Does Icarus have any strengths // skills with him?
Does the cult have a name?
What kind of goals does the cult have?
Why would many stay devoted to the cult, even when they're at risk at being killed if disobeying?
Are there any symbolism to catch? The way how Icarus dies? The scenery? The cult & freedom?
Any foreshadowing we didn't catch?
What kind of world building does the story have?
How would you describe the intention of story in three words?
What is something to expect vs not expect from the future of the story?
Oh I love answering questions especially about Icarus! You don't have to worry about if something is in my comfort zone when it comes to my characters, I love violently torturing them and then answering questions as to why (usually my answer is: I felt like it)
And for anyone who doesn't know what we're talking about! Here is a link to a story I wrote about one of my OC's, Icarus, + the questions Orange had initially and my answers :]
1. Im assuming you're referring to Death and Pain, I had previously written an angsty fanfic (like, JUST got done writing it) to get back at an author I like, but I didn't think it was angsty enough and got a bit sad bc I know I can write good angst, so I decided to write angst about one of my own characters since I knew it would be good (since I know all of their lore)
And Icarus is my favorite punching bag, so I decided to write about one of the most traumatic experiences in his life :3
2. Hrmmm, I don't know if I wanna keep this a secret and write what actually happened or not hrmmmm...
As a little hint, he used to work for the government, and the portal he talks about when begging for his life is a big part of his quest to get home :3
3. I'd say one of his strengths is his inventive spirit and his smarts. He's a real fart smella and he knows how to use his head to get out of lots of situations
4. This is a bit of a hard question in that the answer is both yes and no.
Icarus was originally created as a self insert for a Minecraft lore server I joined years ago. It was called the HijackSMP and was basically the DreamSMP server but a million years after the explosion in the cannon DSMP timeline
Originally the cult was the Egg cult (created by Badboyhalo in the original DSMP lore), which in the HSMP timeline was run by one of my friend's characters.
I built a good bit of lore off of the Egg cult with Icarus (who was at the time called C!CC or just CC) so when some stuff happened within the HSMP server (absolutely horrible mods) and I made Icarus his own stand alone character, I kept the Egg lore (and other lore) but I haven't decided exactly what I want to do with it
A lot of what happened to him to make him how he is happened in the HSMP, so I've been trying to figure out if I want to completely write out the HSMP from his lore and change it to a whole new universe, or keep it all the same
So TLDR: still figuring that stuff out!
5. Per my last answer, this will depend on what I do with the cult in the end, but for the most part it'll be the same as any real world cult: the thing they want above all is control.
6. Little bit of DSMP Egg lore (because this bit of information will stay the same if I do decide to change it) one of the reasons why characters would worship the Egg is because it was able to basically reach into your mind and speak to the characters, promising them their deepest desires and convincing them that they will obtain it if they follow the Egg. So staying means they get what they want in life and leaving means they're killed. Would you want to leave?
(also here's a little meme I made a few years ago lol)
7. In Death and Pain there isn't any symbolism, HOWEVER, there is symbolism involving his namesake, in both how he got into the situation he's in, and some things with his ex-fiancee (whom I haven't really talked about bc she's one of my friend's characters lol). But all that symbolism will have to wait >:3c
All I'll say is: in the Greek tale, Icarus fell only once. In my tale, Icarus falls twice
8. No? Kind of? The only foreshadowing I can think of is maybe his inability to die. Wonder if that'll cause any problems huh...
9. In the world that Death and Pain is set in, fantasy (Minecraft/Minecraft esq world), in how he got there, science fiction, in other places? ... you'll see
10. Easy! I can explain it in 2: torture Icarus
11. Not in Death and Pain, but in Icarus' lore there are themes of regret, cycles, and general insanity
12. Expect the unexpected, and don't expect me to post in a timely manner lmao
Thank you for the questions!! This has been super funnnn
...Might actually write The Accident now... ;]
