I just realized nobody ever remembered Su She and it’s hilarious, especially in the ‘school at gusu arc’ -yes I’ve called the arc like that, no idea if it has a legit name- because after he sends (and loses) his sword after the waterborne abyss we have this:
The disciple looked like he was a youth of similar age as Wei Wuxian and the others. Without his sword, his face grew paler and paler. An older disciple beside him spoke, “Su She, right now, we still haven’t determined what the thing inside the water is.[...]”
Like there’s literally someone older and probably more experienced right next to him lol. [In my head this is like those jokes that start at: act 1:____, act 2:___, act 3:___; what’s the name of the play?]. Then, after everything goes south, we get this:
Surrounding the area close to the center, a large whirlpool had formed without anybody realizing. The ten-or-so boats circled around, following the currents of the whirlpool.
So not only we have the one older disciple next to Su She, but I’m guessing all of the people that went to deal with the supposed water ghoul problem came to a closer proximity, so it’s getting more and more hilarious for me and more and more humiliating for Su She.
And THEN we’re gifted with this lol:
The clang-s of drawings swords chorused in the air. One after another, everyone mounted their swords and flew upward. Wei Wuxian already hovered above. He looked downward, only to see that the disciple who drove his sword underwater, Su She, was already knee-deep inside the water,[...]
And by this point I’m laughing so hard because [act 1] no only everyone realized Su She lost his sword, but [act 2] there was an older disciple right next to him and [act 3] also the whirlpool would have dragged the other boats with people in them - included but not limited to the twin jades of gusu- closer to each other, and [name of the play] everyone just forgot Su She.
And then after Wei Wuxian goes to save him no one but Lan Wangji goes to help him out. And I’m just sitting here in my room laughing so hard because omg the plot really wanted Su She dead and he managed to outlive so many characters. All the characters that died an untimely death must have been rolling on their graves while watching this one man that just refuses to get killed. Like a cockroach but worst because nobody forgets a cockroach once they’ve seen it, and this dude is forgotten by everyone immediately. And I’m just laughing so hard.
