Whisper., v.

“We’ve come a long way, haven’t we?”

She tilted her head, her hands stilling at her ministrations as he lightly touched her hand, silently pleading for her to continue her caresses.

“What do you mean?” She asked when he offered no explanation, her voice, quiet and soft, not wanting to ruin the moment they have but her curiosity got the best of her.

“Do you remember back in high school, you’ve got these braids and these pair of glasses and you shared majority of your classes with Minor?” He asked instead, further confusing her. Nonetheless, she nodded her head making him reach up, his thumb running through her mouth.

“I uh...” he cleared his throat as if he was mentally preparing himself for a confession- an admittance of a sin he had done years prior. “Sometimes, whenever I needed a reprieve, I found myself leaning over the wall outside of the music classroom.”

“The hallways?” She asked incredulously yet her voice never lost that softness. “But that’s a common place for people to meet.”

He shook his head, shifting his head to a more comfortable position, careful not to make her uncomfortable. “No, there’s a little corner there that’s unnoticed. Just by the backdoor.”

Ah.

“I’d sometimes lean over there and I’d hear you.” He continued, his voice dropping low that she had to strain her hearing. “You’d hum a melody first before playing it in the piano, or when you have music class, you’d strategically place yourself just near the teacher but not that close that people would notice you and whisper corrections when you felt her being off. Or sometimes when you’re feeling bold, you’d whisper love notes that I know you want to be written down as songs.” He didn’t know where he found the courage to tell her the things he had chosen not to reveal to anyone.

“I was so afraid of approaching you before, pumpkin.” He let out a small laugh. “I was afraid that you might not be heard if I stand too close to you- that in your attempts to blend with the background, you’d get lost in the noise.” His eyes met hers and she could’ve sworn she saw-

She shook her head. “Ah but here we are,” she smiled at him. “I think we rather blend well together, balancing out each other, don’t you think?”

A small smile crept upon his lips. “Indeed we do, my love.”

I just simply adore the word whisper- I had it written for handwriting tag game. And idk if you guys know this but it is because of handwriting tag that got me to open my request box and do this prompt game in the first place- aside from the motivation Val had given me.
