What if when Alphonse got his memories back going through the gate, he lost the memories of his visions through Alfons.

He doesn't remember the few flashes of Ed's life he had, or anything about this other guy that is apparently important enough to make his brother cry with his absence.

And he has Ed falling apart in front of him in a completely new and alien world and situation and he has no idea what to do. There's no alchemy that can fix this. He's supposed to be the mature brother, but in that moment he feels so young and behind Ed's world weary form.

And we all know Ed isn't going to ever bring it up, god forbid. Don't think that man will ever unpack all that repressed nonsense from his life, or at least not while the blood on that shirt hasn't faded...
