Henning Larsen (August 21, 1925 - 2013) was a Danish architect whose firm designed some conspicuous public buildings in Copenhagen and cities worldwide.
Yesterday we had Marmorkirken which is at one end of the Amalienborg axis in Copenhagen; today we show the new Royal Opera House which is at the other end of that axis.
Henning Larsen created the design, shipping magnate Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller paid for it, and the Opera was opened by the Queen in 2005. Inside one can see some of the artwork commissioned for the Opera, for instance Olafur Eliasson’s three giant chandeliers...
