My beautiful girl, my Katy Baty, my Katy Mama, my baby girl, my light. I am so sad to say that my Katy was hit by a car this afternoon and is gone from this world. The neighborhood children came by to tell me, and they comforted me. A neighbor brought her body to my yard and laid her in the spring grass. The kids came back and asked me about my tears and if they could come if I bury her. And they brought flowers for her, and a gift of her hair they found near the accident. Thank you @rorypabon for coming and wrapping her body, and praying over her. She loved you. Jesus, give me strength. 🙏🏿 Katy found me and chose me to be her human 7 years ago. She belonged to my old neighbors but she always spoke to me when I was outside. Before my old neighbors moved for good, they came by to say the notices I had a “special connection with ‘Lucky’ “ and that they were moving. I couldn’t adopt her so I just wished them well. About seven months later, she came to me during a storm, emancipated and crying outside of my door. I fed her. Soon after, I let her inside during a hurricane. I was hers ever since. This was at my old house that got turn down. My fly-by-night life immediately changed as I had to suddenly consider another being’s well being other than myself. Katy was a teen mom soon after we met, and she quickly had her first litter of 3 kittens, in the lining of my sofa while I was in New Orleans. @rorypabon was her couch doula! One kitten was adopted by a friend, and the other two stayed with me and Katy. My mom would care for them when I was away, and my cousin one time too. She grounded me, and kept her little paw on my hand when I was sick. She was my nurse and my soul mate. I am so heartbroken. And I know her kids Grey Grey and Stripe Stripe will hold this loss so dear. I’m grateful for them and how she shared her life with me. I don’t understand what’s going on in the world but I know the greatest is Love. Rest in Pretty Girl Peace, my Katy Baty. Home is not the same without you.
