@heeeres-kirk and anyone else wondering more about the technical side of how I did this transition in my King and Lionheart vid:
It was actually pretty easy to do; any video editing software sophisticated enough for vidding (I use OpenShot) comes with support for simple "animations," such as moving the image around on the screen.
What I did is I created a still image of a starry sky (actually a frame from Star Trek: The Motion Picture, outlined in red above), which I used to transition between the footage of the cornfield (from Scary Stories We Tell in the Dark, in blue) and the Enterprise (in green), all on top of a default black background.
The main advantage of using a still image is that I was able to edit it to make the bottom of the image a gradient from completely transparent to opaque. That way, I was able to gradually transition from the dark blue sky over the cornfield to the black of space as though it was all one image.
