Helena Goldstein is the youngest child and second daughter of Anthony Goldstein and his wife Megan Goldstein (nĂ©e Jones). She has one sister, Azelma and two brothers, Luke and Aaron. Â
She arrived at Hogwarts in 2017 and is currently in her sixth year in Ravenclaw.
Being the youngest of four, Helena has never wanted for anything in her entire life. Not money, since she's never been materialistic or greedy; not love, as she's always been showered with it by a tight-knit, well adjusted family and certainly not attention which she receives copious amounts of thanks to her ability to easily make friends and a confident disposition. Helena has always had it easy in life, but in no way does that mean she's some spoiled brat who thinks she's better than everyone else. She sees those qualities as dominant traits in the horrid Slytherin students and she would be disgusted in herself if she were to ever come across as similar to them. Helena sees herself as being on equal footing with everyone and puts no merit into someone as a person based on their blood purity. Her parents have often told her and her siblings about the awful prejudice and torment muggleborns endured back when Voldemort lived and she's extremely disappointed in the people who hang onto those dated and hateful ideals. She has very strong emotional stability, not much rattles her. If someone calls her names or insults her, Helena doesn't get bothered by it at all. She merely shrugs her shoulders and says "Is that the best you've got?" It's an extremely admirable trait and many are envious of it, everyone wants to be able to get by without getting affected by the mean, hurtful things said by others. It's something every school student struggles with yet here Helena is with a shrug of her shoulders and an unamused shake of her head. It absolutely infuriates Scorpius and his gang to a point where they've been known to loose their cool with her in public. Helena doesn't hate the bullies like everyone else in the school, she finds hate to be a rather strong emotion to be felt towards a group of people who do nothing more than have a dated view on the importance of blood status and make feeble attempts at hurting her. Helena pities them for who their parents are which she assumes is the biggest factor as to why the Slytherins believe what they believe. Outspoken with an active imagination, Helena has never been one to hold her tongue for the sake of others. If she has an opinion on something (and she always does) she has no problem voicing it and voicing it loudly, even if the topic has nothing to do with her whatsoever. Â She has a bad habit of listening to idle gossip and believing it which means she often makes wrong assumptions about people and judges them before she gives herself the opportunity to get to know them. The phrase 'don't judge a book by its cover' doesn't seem to apply to Helena, she does the exact opposite. This can sometimes hinder her chances of making friends with people as the can often be put off by her forming a misguided and false image of them. It's a real shame though, Helena is a good friend to have if someone is willing to look past this major flaw. Once friends with her, she's devoted and loyal. Although the brunette was sorted into Ravenclaw, it's normal for Helena to display the strong characteristics commonly associated with a Gryffindor. Loyalty and bravery are two things she holds very dear to her heart. During her Sorting ceremony, Helena was one of the very few hat-stalls that year with the Sorting Hat taking ten whole minutes deciding where to put her. In the end, the blue and bronze won and she became a Ravenclaw. Helena is naturally intelligent which is why it surprises people that she tries so hard. Her efforts pay off though, she's near the top of her class in most subjects which she takes great pride in. Â She's persistent too, when given a task she won't stop until it meets her high standards. This trait also shows itself in class. On more than one occasion, Helena has been known to argue with Professors about a grade she wasn't happy with. That's just what she does, if she thinks she is right, Helena will argue her opinion until she's blue in the face or until the person she's arguing with realizes they won't win and ultimately give up.
The Helena people see inside the classroom is very different to the Helena outside of the classroom. In class, she's book orientated and focused on her studies while outside of class Helena's exterior is that of a flamboyant, sassy and socially comfortable young lady. Instead of sitting quietly in the corner like a shy wallflower she's right in the middle of everything and getting involved and giving her opinions. There's always a huge smile on Helena's face and she's fond of using cheeky quips with everyone. Her sense of humor is an aquired taste becasue even though it's witty and makes most people laugh, it can often be dry and sarcastic which means she often ends up offending others even if it wasn't her initial intention. Even though she loves being with her parents and older siblings very much, Helena considers Hogwarts to be her true home. They same home is where the heart is and she heart is definitely at the magical school. At Hogwarts, she can be herself without any pressure to live up to the bar set by Azelma, Aaron or Luke. The expectations aren't set by her parents who have always been supprotive, they're set by Helena herself. She'd love to be as beautiful and successful like Azelma, well-liked and popular like Luke and respected and admired like Aaron.
Anthony, Megan, Luke, Aaron and Azelma:
Helena has always had a pretty great relationship with both of her parents. They never pressured her into doing anything she didn't want to do, they always supported her with whatever idea happened to pop into her mind and most importantly (in Helena's eyes anyway) Anthony and Megan gave her freedom and trusted in her. She watches her friends complain about their interfering and overbearing parents and Helena counts her lucky stars that she got such great parents. Ever since she was a little girl, Helena has looked up to her siblings thinking they could do no wrong. Obviously as she grew and matured, the allure of Azlema, Aaron and Luke has dimmed a little bit but she still loves them just as much. With Luke, Helena is the typical little sister. She constantly pesters him just to make his blood boil, she tells embarrassing childhood stories about him in public and she is always butting into his love life and warning any potential girlfriends that they'll have to answer to her if they hurt her brother. Helena's relationship with Aaron is a lot more peaceful. They don't talk frequently when she's at Hogwarts but Aaron is the sibling she immediately goes to whenever a problem in her life arises. From him, Helena knows she'll get honest, supportive and helpful advice from her eldest brother. Helena idolizes Azelma, in her eyes the older girl is everything she'd like to be and more. That being said, Helena can sometimes get extremely jealous of her older sister, jealousies she doesn't keep quiet about. This sometimes results in the girls coming to blows in occasional fights and arguments but one of them always backs down in the end waving a white flag of surrender.
Helena's fued with Venia started in their first year on the Hogwarts Express. She stumbled upon the Slytherin girl spouting rubbish to a frightened-looking girl about 'There's not a chance I'll be caught dead sharing a compartment with some mudblood.' Helena (true to her out-spoken nature) had no problems telling Venia what a stuck up cow she was being. A war of words ensued which had to be broken up by Prefects, but the damage was done and the two girls are at each other's throats at any given opportunity.
