When Queenie was  a little girl, a man broke into her family’s house and killed her father. They saw the event, their witness tetstomony should have put the man in jail but it didn’t and the judge declared the man who killed her father innocent. Her blood began to boil and it didn’t stop. For a Heart to die that way, her father no less and for the man responsible not to face justice? It was an outrage. She decided then and there that Macusa needed a better judge and dammit, she was going to give them one if it was the last thing she did.

At school, she’s seen as a tyrant, lording her power over the weak but when you get closer to her, you realize how taken they are with her righteous cause. She is incredibly misunderstood at school but she barely notices, she just keeps moving forward, closer to her goal of becoming a judge but is she maybe moving closer away? A judge has to be elected and if she isn’t seen as a trustworthy, decent person she’ll never be elected. She needs to start connecting to people, being more emotionally vulnerable and she needs to process the grief of losing her father that she’s buried under her ambition but will she be able to before it’s too late?

Whitely has always been afraid. He’s been afraid of his mother and his father, trying to live up to their expectations but failing and facing the consequences. He’s afraid of the dark and f being yelled at, he’s afraid of being late but never for himself, he fears being late for others. All he wants is to please people because he’s never really felt like he’s been able to. His fear and anxiety came to a peak when he was accepted into Ilvermorny, he couldn’t make friends and no one seemed to want to be his friend, no one but Queenie. She may have bossed him around and from the outside it might have looked like he was being taken advantage of but really, he was taking advantage of her. With her around, he was safe.

He has to deal with people having a rotten opinion of him quite a bit at school, people saying he’s “Queenie’s bitch.” He just keeps his head down and his nose in the books. With a little encouragement from Queenie way back in the day, he’s decided to pursue magical law. He wants to work in a courtroom as a judge’s assistant. He wants to follow and support Queenie all the way to the top but is he putting too many eggs in one basket? Sure Queenie’s been great but being overly dependent on a person

Former Auror

Tarrent was brilliant. He was a gifted wizard, all throughout his school years and a genuinely good auror. Many around him were skeptical he could handle the job however, he felt things so deeply, grew too emotionally invested. He always said that was why he should be an auror, because he became to emotionally invested. In whatever case he worked on, he always gave his full effort. He was unable to save many but he did save quite a few. It wasn’t the many that he failed to save that broke him though, it was one in particular.

She was a little girl and she had been kidnapped, one of many and when he eventually found her what he saw was indescribable. The scene was so gruesome and horrific that the authorities saw fit to keep the images from the public eye. It was too late for Tarrent, he had seen everything and the man who had committed the act was still at large. He snapped, he became a twisted, cruel version of himself but within twenty four hours he found the criminal responsible and he killed him, allegedly in self defence.

There was no doubt that the man he killed had been guilty, the evidence was irrefutable but what Tarrent had done was still considered murder and so he lost his job. He was allowed to walk off scot-free since it was universally decided in the Auror’s bureau that what happened to the criminal had been justice. He settled into Greylock’s Landing and began to live off his pension as an auror. To supplement his income he started growing herbs for teas and sold them.

Professor Cato Piller, a friend from his time at school, asked him to start fostering some kids, a decision not many understood. Tarrent was a madman now, would a child not be in danger under his care? It was Cato’s theory that taking care of children may be what it took to mend the man’s mind and his heart, it was the death of a child that triggered his madness after all…

March has had a long and checkered history concerning his mental health. He has depression and panic disorder and both have left his nerves a little fried. Due to his instability his magic would go haywire and so and a young age he was sent to live with his uncle Tarrant, the one person who could keep him under control. Healers gave him potions to try to keep his mind under control but those had only made things worse, he began to hear things and see things that weren’t there. It never occurred to the healers that maybe their potions were making things worse, they simply kept prescribing more and more.

Going through school had been mostly difficult, school is difficult enough without exacerbated mental illness. Despite the challenges, he found solace in his makeshift family, in Dora and even Chess at times. He fostered within himself a skill at cracking magical code and in putting it in place. He wants to work in magical security, maintaining elaborate spells to keep people out or keep them in.

Nearing the end of his school years, he’s begun to feel a little better and has started to cut back on taking the potions, there’s just one problem, the voices in his head don’t want him to. He finds himself in arguments with himself, heated arguments, mostly out loud. People are beginning to talk about him, avoid him now more than ever. He’s so bitter, sometimes he wants to hurt them, give them something to be scared of, moments later he’s disgusted and horrified at the thought. He doesn’t want to hurt anyone or hurt himself but the people around him can be so cruel and not understanding. All he wants is for someone to tell him he’s going to be okay, someone who doesn’t already have to.

Tarrent Hightop: His uncle and effective foster dad. Tarrent understands his condition better than anyone.

Not much is known about Cheshire, he just sort of showed up on day at Ilvermorny with a bizarre collection of magical talents. He is a partial metamorphagus, able to change the colour f his hair, he can float and apparate at a young age. They thought he was a prodigy until they got him in class and realized he’s more of an idiot savant. He is very, very good at what he can do and not so great at the rest. This strange kind of disconnect has given him a weird sort of vibe and not many people can even get close to figuring him out, ket alone what he’s saying, his madness seems even greater than that of the mad hatter his foster father.

It’s Chesh’s mostly secret goal to one day reveal the magical world to the no-majs. He doesn’t harbour any real motivation for this, he doesn’t believe in reaching out to those without magic and connecting the worlds. He doesn’t believe that wizards and witches should take over the world. What he wants more than anything is to watch the chaos that unfolds when the No-Majs know and the magic folk can’t hide. He knows there are some teens at the Highschool in Adamsville that are looking for proof of magic and he’s thinking about reaching out and helping the investigation along…

Auror: front line specialization

Dora Mouse doesn’t know the taste of a silver spoon but she knows those who do and was always resentful of it on some level. The privilege that came with money warped people, made them fee invincible and that they could not be held accountable for their actions. She didn’t hate rich people, she wasn’t prejudicial like that but as a child she could never fully wrap her head around why they got so much and she got so little. It wasn’t fair. When she was seven, her magic began to manifest and she began to feel more like things had evened out in some way. They had money and she had magic.

Unfortunately, she was too young to control her magic and it came out in a bust in front of the other kids one day in the classroom. She was getting yelled at by the teacher and in her frustration and fear, sent the chalk and chalk brushes and everyone’s books whirring around the classroom. There were screams of genuine fear at the display and suddenly, the rich kids money didn’t make them untouchable anymore. They went home, told their parents, the rumours started and suddenly the witch hunt was on.

They hunted her down at her home with literal torches and pitch forks. They burned down her home and her parents died, she would have died too were she not rescued by a team of aurors. After she was taken by the aurors, she was visited by professor Cato Pillar, headmaster of Ilvermorney. He told her that one day she would live at the school but until then (and during the summer months) she would live with an old ex-auror named Tarent Hightop, the infamous “mad hatter.”

Since entering school she’s taken to pursuing a life of an auror and helping to protect people like her from the no-majs. She’s a part of the guard club, a group of students who patrol the woods at night with teacher supervision. She’s been clocking in so many hours that she’s practically falling asleep in her classes. The teachers have been if she doesn’t learn to calm down a bit in her crusade against the evils of humanity she might get in some grade threatening or worse, life threatening trouble.

Nature Walk Club Member

FC: Virginia Gardner 

When Alice was a little girl she was convinced she saw a fairy in her backyard at her home in Adamsville. Her parents dismissed it as an overactive imagination, the flight of fancy of a child. She would pout and cross her arms and go right on believing what she saw even though she never saw it again. Seeing the fairy impacted her immensely growing up, nothing in the mundane world could hold her attention and so she drifted off into daydreams that would last hours and hours. Everyone called her the weird girl, they avoided her at recess and tried not to get paired with her for class projects, knowing she would slack off on the work so she could go off and think about fairies.

When she got to high school, she considered walking away from her fantasy about magic but that was before she met Wendy and discovered the Nature walk club. The club name was just a front, it was really a group of students who all had magical experiences similar to her own who were looking to uncover the truth about it. For the first time in her life she didn’t feel crazy or like she was the weird girl. She knew she wasn’t fantasizing over something that might not exist, the fairy was real. It had to be.

It was at the beginning of the school year when her feelings were validated. While out in the woods one day after school, she saw a boy floating around on a broom. She stayed quiet and watched but he turned and saw her. He smiled, rose a finger to his lips, “shhhh” he said before disappearing entirely. She stood there, frozen in shock and then she chased after him for what felt like hours. She never found him but she was certain she couldn’t make something like that up, there was no way. Wonderland was out there somewhere in the woods and she had just taken her first steps towards it.
