"President," a small mousy woman enter the MACUSA President's office, "we have a problem..."
The lithe president was sitting in their high-backed chair looking through the enchanted art-deco window of the large corner office. They turned to face the small assistant and gave her a puzzled look. "And what would that problem be?"
"None of the interns from Ilvermorny arrived today," her voice trailed off as Ualeas' eyes widened with fear. "We've sent Aurors to investigate?"
"What?" President Yras shot from their seat and flourished their wand toward the large dusty trenchcoat that seemed to be the standard for the mage. "This is a matter that requires my attention. Cancel the rest of my meetings for the day." Then, they vanished.
Due to security measures, even the MACUSA President wasn't allowed to apparate onto school property. Ualeas had to arrive in town. They chose an alleyway in order to not draw a lot of attention. Although, when it came to apparating, it was hard to disguise the loud crack that announced any arrival or departure.
However, there weren't any people in the town to mask their arrival from. The fair-colored president moved slowly through town. It was like they vanished. Cups of tea sat on tables untouched with scones that were uneaten. Books sat on benches with no one to read them. Picnics were set up but no one was around to enjoy them.Â
And the school was the same with the exception of the Aurors investigating the situation. Beatrice Glade, Gregory Gray, and Agnes Prior met the president at the gate. "President Yras, what an honor to see you. What can we help you with?" Agnes spoke first as she tucked her wand into her boot pocket.
"Can you tell me what happened here?"
"Gladly," Beatrice piped in. "They vanished."
"Is this some type of hunter attack?"
"We don't believe so," Gregory added.
"So, it's magical in origin?"
"We believe so," Agnes answered.
"We're gathering items from the people who vanished. The Missing Magical Department said they can try and use magic to find them." It was a long shot. Ualeas had never seen anything like this before happen in their lifetime.Â
"If you need any signatures to move it along quicker, please let me know. I'm going to go to the Headmaster's Office.""Yes, President," the three said in unison as their leader made their way up to the castle.
Ualeas walked into the office and held their breath. Whatever happened to the school and surrounding areas, started there. Papers were strewn about, black specks splattered the walls and the edges of the desk seemed to be singed but there were no other signs of fire.Â
They used their wand to collect samples. It was much harder than it seemed. "I need to get out of the office more often," they huffed a laugh as the black specks gave them a hard time.Â
After they collected samples, Ualeas looked through some of the paperwork left behind. They took it back to MACUSA for further inspection. Ualeas felt the key to figuring out what happened was in the text...
