If I had a nickel for every time Louis Oliver was in a show where a priest did something that he definitely should not be doing/that is definitely harming others, I’d have two nickels which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice

On the theme of forgiveness in Midnight Mass Episode 7 Revelation:
When Ooker tearfully confesses to Sturge that he probably killed his own mother, Sturge just as tearfully admits that he's done some horrendous things as well, and asks if Ooker will forgive him? Ooker replies, 'Of course.' And they embrace each other. When the sun comes, they stand together, singing, supporting one another.
Pruitt, at the start of the episode, unburdened himself to Mildred - a priest confessing all his sins, and the things he never considered a sin, to the woman he's loved for so much of his life. As the sun rises and their final death approaches, with their dead daughter in their laps, he turns to her and says 'Forgive me.' (I personally don't think he asked so much as requested, and there is a world of difference between the two.)
Mildred says nothing. (Did she forgive him but couldn't bring herself to say it? Can she forgive him?) But she leans forward one last time, and they die upon their kiss.
Bev. Bev, who attacks and condemns Pruitt and Mildred when Pruiit rejects and denounces her for what she unleashed upon the island community. Bev, who condescends to the traumatized Howie for something he wasn't even aware of, saying that he could have saved the wife and children that he devoured in his bloodlust, if only he had believed, and casts him out of her new community to die in the sun. (Sturge will later reach out to him, bringing him along, repenting.) Bev, who believes she knows all and can decide the fate of the island, making sure there will be no shelter but her.
Bev does not ask for forgiveness. Not even from God. It never even occurs to her. She dies alone, pathetic, desolate, terrified, screaming.
the way ooker was talking to sturge at the end and said w tears in his eyes and voice "i think i killed my mom tonight" i want to WEEP.
