tw: more discussion of rape, rape jokes, rape tropes
onlyjustagenius replied to your post: [[MOR]I won’t play rape roleplay not because I’m...
//There are some things that should just be an instant TW to people, seriously. And to think that writing content like that is a matter of maturity? No. Some people don’t RP certain things because it would endanger their mental health.
// I also have a big ethical and moral problem with people using sexual and gendered violence as a mean for entertainment, but as long as people trigger warn their things, I won't give them hell for it.
I don't have the links here, but it has been proven by studies that rape jokes and rape tropes enables rapists and encourages them. It also creates more support for the criminal while reinforcing the myths that victims are responsible for the crimes committed by the rapists against them.
When one man in twenty recognizes having raped a person as long as the question doesn't hold the word "rape", I think it's very important to be cautious of what we do, even as roleplayers.
onlyjustagenius replied to your post “Homo Superior?”
//I'm not aware of any canon alternatives, but I've always felt like 'homo superior' was pretty elitist. Seems like there should be another term that gets the idea of difference across without implying superiority or inferiority.
This is exactly my thinking on it. It came to me because I was writing up a reply where Hank was explaining that he was a mutant, and my brain was literally like "I'm a mutant, a member of the evolutionary off-shot of homo sapiens that we've come to call homo sup - " and IMMEDIATELY stopped.
Because is that how mutants really want to introduce themselves and label themselves? Someone like Magneto or Apocalypse, yeah, I get why you'd use that term, but someone like Hank or Xavier's not going to do that. Hence coming up with an alternative.
you don't know it.
but you just chose like the big number in one of my fandoms
and I can't stop smiling

Get milk. Get bread. Get cheese. Get home.
Her brain was scattered, though, all over the place. Milk, bread, cheese... had she forgotten anything? She pulled the hood of her sweatshirt up even more, tucking her hair behind her ear. It was unseasonable for a sweatshirt, but she'd promised...
She looked down at the bag. Milk. Bread. Cheese... oh! Was she supposed to be grabbing anything extra for dinner? Maybe she should go back and grab some root beer and ice cream for rootbeer floats--that would be a good way to celebrate the holiday! Just as she was thinking it, her shoulder made contact with someone she was passing by on the street. The impact caused her to drop her bag.
Immediately, she bent to begin gathering her things, apologizing softly. "I'm so sorry..." she muttered, "...I didn't mean to..." She cast a glance upward and...
David.
