When we got to Onomichi station yesterday, we ditched our big bags in a coin locker and rented a pair of bikes. We loaded up the bikes with a change of clothes (firmly secured the furoshiki) and biked to Sashima Island. We biked across suspension bridges, stopped to play in the water and made it to the island in time for the sunset. Under one of the bridges there was a collection of friendly ladies selling hot udon and a guy playing a ukulele. We grabbed a spot in the sun and enjoyed the hot meal, looking out over the ocean. Traveling gets exhausting and isn't always fun, but days like yesterday make it worth it.
