Been thinking so much lately about how the CM writers have a tendency to screw up everything and now I'm not sure I want canon Jemily tbh. It'd cause all sorts of issues with Emily being JJ's boss etc which I just feel the writers would manage to fumble. But I DO think we should get implied Jemily in the very last episode of the show, because the writers are good at nailing single scenes between them every now and then. I think they could pull It off. It would be so easy and there are so many ways they could do it like:
JJ gives Luke a pep talk to encourage him to go after Garcia because she's sick of seeing them dance around each other. He uses their awkward first date as an excuse not to go for it and she tells him that's dumb, of course there'll be a little bit of awkwardness at first because they've been friends for so long and the dynamic is changing. "So big brave Luke Alvez is not going to go after the one person who could make him happy, just because he's scared of maybe embarrassing himself in front of her once or twice?" Then Luke is like damn you're right and runs off to Garcia, JJ watches him leave wistfully then Emily comes up behind her like "that's good advice" and JJ throws a drink all over herself and is super clumsy and nervous, heavily implying THEY are also going through that awkward transition themselves rn. And Emily just smirks and they brush hands and there's lots of eye contact and we leave them to their private moment.
JJ decides to take extended leave and go travelling with Michael over the summer because she's racked up so much flight time but never gets to SEE anything. This makes Emily think about her own priorities in life and Jemily talk about missed opportunities together and sliding doors and it's very romance coded then the day before JJ is due to fly off Emily just resigns midway through a budget meeting because she's so sick of this shit and omg what is she doing with her life??? Then we get an end montage showing where all the characters end up and in it, we see Emily is boarding a flight with Michael and JJ and they smile and are happy and it's open ended but heavily implied via their usual 🥺 stares at each other that they'll get together and that's that.
The series ends with the team gathering for drinks like the original series did. Jemily kiss each other at some point. Just a casual peck. Out of nowhere. Everyone stops talking. It turns out they've secretly been together all season and just waiting for the right time to tell everyone. Garcia loses her mind. Luke owes Rossi and Tara $100 each.
