She spies flashing scales and, for a brief moment, thinks little of it. “Tavra!” Onica calls from the wheel. “Fish!” Tavra looks up from the railing, startled, tangled rope in hand. “What?” Scales swirl closer. Onica feels the first prickle of unease. “Fish!” “…now?” Oh sweet suns- “No, not- Duck!” It’s too late. The hooyim leap, and Tavra, wonderful, fearless, landlubber Tavra, turns uncomprehendingly to look. “Where-?” Splash. SPLAT! Thump. Onica can't help grinning. “It was a good catch, at least.” Dripping slime and brine, Tavra tips the last hooyim back over the railing. “Do NOT,” she grumbles, “tell Tae.”
