I had a real throwback moment this week to all sorts of bands and songs that I enjoyed in my teens, so with Week 14’s playlist, it’s a bit of a hodgepodge of songs. Atreyu was probably the first heavy band I discovered; I was around 12 when I first heard them, and they just kinda sparked something in me. Sleeping With Sirens holds a lot of sweet memories for me and my best friend from high school; we used to sing their songs regularly while going on school trips and such, and bonded over a shared love of the post-hardcore and metalcore scene of music, as well as growing to find love in all sorts of other genres of music as we’ve aged. On top of that, I’ve got a song from one of my favorite Bollywood films, Jab Tak Hain Jain (y’all should check it out, it’s on Netflix. Just sayin’), as well as a song from Sonic Adventure 2, which is hands down one of my all-time favorite video games (thanks SEGA for putting your music on Spotify). I also wanna give a shoutout to my friend in @themayaspectra; they just dropped a new single, that being “Where I’m Coming From.” I am so happy and excited to hear new music coming from them, and this song will be on their forthcoming EP!
