guys chonny jash's music is actually so fire. has anyone else ever heard of this guy. everyone should go listen to his music right meow
the brainrot of today, re: tywin, aerys and the fucking irony.
do you hate your son's guts? hell yeah! but what do you do when someone threatens this despicable son of yours?
start a war.
because, ultimately, their sons are still a part of their house. they can hate them all they want, but both rhaegar and tyrion were considered a targaryen heir and a lannister heir, officially at least, against their fathers' wishes who really would rather see viserys/jaime in this place (ironically, tywin wanted his elder son to be the heir and absolutely refused to acknowledge his second son as one despite the law, and aerys was rumoured to plan his first son's disinheritance in favour of the second). in both cases it was stupid and impulsive actions of a stark, though clearly done out of love. the difference is that brandon stark came running to the king's landing, thinking his sister had been kidnapped, and catelyn tully stark, once his betrothed, kidnapped tyrion herself and hurried to put distance, as much as possible, from the king's landing, thinking that tyrion had tried to assassinate her son. both were obviously wrong.
and what did tywin and aerys do? turned to manslaughter. except tywin wasn't mentally unstable and started a war more or less methodologically, breaking the king's peace law and at least trying to cover it, while aerys was king himself, mentally not sound at all and openly crossed the line after calling for ned's and robert's heads on top of turning the starks and co's execution into a cruel and wicked spectacle.
were houses targaryen and lannister respectively wronged in both situations? yes. i'm sorry if it upsets anyone, but brandon's and cat's actions in itself were not something considered lawful in their society. calling for the crown prince's head? treason. kidnapping an heir to a major house, the queen's brother? crime. it was purely tywin's and aerys's way of retribution that were obviously wrong. they didn't even love their sons, it was their authority and power being questioned and thus pride and ego bruised that somehow seemed to be a good reason to turn to brutal violence. they both started two most massive wars in the recent history of westeros, robert's rebellion and the war of the five kings, both brought ruin for their houses and both died in the end of their respective wars (ironically, in the same keep).
the funniest thing is that they hated each other's guts, too. and if you think tywin had the last laugh by getting the throne for his grandchildren and making his daughter queen after all? hold my beer, and see cersei "grrm is really passionate about my parallels to the mad king" lannister and her story in the following books.
IM DYING THEY EVEN BROUGHT OUT THE 3D MODELS FOR THIS 😭😭😭
