Cooper was wandering around the street, outside just for the hell of it. He liked being outdoors, and even though he wasn't looking at the same stars he used to, they were as beautiful as ever on Edmunds. It took him a moment to pick up the sound, but he heard crying coming from somewhere to his left. He turned his head, worried, and scanned the road until he saw a figure curled up on the ground. There was the cryer. He hurried over; someone that young— they looked young anyway— should not have been out that late. Especially not alone and crying. Coop crouched at the kid's feet.
