Tre' Major, Aaliyah's former hair stylist, revealed during a birthday Clubhouse special that Aaliyah's hair was styled using a leave-out weave piece (from a prior stylist). During the filming of the infamous rain scene, Aaliyah's natural hair became frizzy and unmanageable, leading to difficulties in finding a solution.

Consequently, the entire scene had to be abandoned and reshot, incurring costs amounting to hundreds of thousands of dollars. Tre' Major then intervened, styling her hair in a manner that prevented it from puffing up when wet, and subsequently became her hair stylist for future projects.
