I’m Back, Bitches
Seriously, man.
At the end of June, I was MAD busy. I then had the week from HELL from 1st to 8th of July (thank you, life) and then a better, but still mad busy week since then.
But at least I got loads of writing done! I’ve spent the last four days in Google Docs revising my story notes for two projects.... in two different fandoms. (One is like 52 pages long). I figured out a new system for planning stories that, once finished, will make it a hell of a lot easier planning more.
The drawback/advantage is that it involves DEEP notes. Submarine level deep. Right now, I’m adding to my mega Trelsi fic notes, because I love this story MADLY and I can’t wait to begin writing it. Sometime. It’s a little frustrating, but I NEVER begin writing a story without writing thorough notes and a plot timeline. Never. So it takes me a lot longer, which means that I only write for characters that I care enough about to sacrifice exercise, sleep and real life so that I can figure them out.
Modus operandi:
(Flip the bird at Real Life)
1- “The Marvel of Trelsi”-- Still need to discuss why these two work as a couple, Kelsi vs Gabriella as characters, possible headcanons, possible drawbacks and characterization.
2- “Illusions and Reality”-- Trelsi fic, but mostly Troy-centred. I’m fascinated by Troy’s cognitive dissonance, particularly in HSM III. (HSM III is my favourite starting point for Trelsi, as I will explain later). Basically, Troy’s moral compass is out of shape throughout this movie because of his relationship with Gabriella, and I want to explore that. It’s going to start right after Gabriella shamefully reneges on their plans to attend prom, right when Troy sinks into a (new) low. I’m really interested in gap between illusions (the perfect relationship) and reality (his actual relationship), and what it would take for Troy to realize that.
3- “The Joy of Solitude”-- Troy-centred fic about how he found the rooftop garden space and what it means to him.
All of this is character-based, because I think I do better in that genre than plot-based fics. I need to practice writing Troy, because I’m going to have to accurately portray him falling in love with someone not named Gabriella in a true, canonical fashion. I think I’m alright at writing Kelsi, like I did here. We shall see, anyway.
