Okay I just want to lay it down here.
Romance dawn trio being coined as THAT trio and the triggers of One Piece is just perfect. Romance here is taking a quite different meaning, one closer to adventure rather than its literal one, which is where they were actually heading. Dawn as start of something and what basically took place at the beginning of OP when Luffy, Zoro and Nami first met each other.
Which is obvious. Of course.
But romance dawn being the phrase pertaining to the start of adventure and the three trigger characters fit perfectly as well when you look at it symbolically, even poetically. The sun, moon and stars always play vital roles in myths and legends and stories of the old.
Why would it differ in the OP narrative? We already have it handed to us in a plate.
Luffy is the Sun god. The true form of his DF revelation cementing that fact. Zoro came from the clan Shimotsuki from Wano Kuni. The clan’s name literally translates to ‘frost moon’. Wano and most of the inhabitants have used or referenced the moon and the moon symbol consistently. Pretty much an in your face fact. When Wano arc ended you know, you can now interrelate the moon with them. Because it was everywhere.
And Nami? This is the most obvious of all. No proof needed in the story. Stars. Those shiny, tiny jewels in the night sky that was pretty much used by every navigators to navigate the sea long before compasses. The North star. That certain point-guide, never changing, never moving. It was set in stone from the start. It was written in the stars.
Dawn is literally preceded by the sun rising, which in turn is preceded by the moon and stars appearing when it sets. Then dawn appears again. It’s an unbreakable cycle. The coming of a new day. The beginning of.
So yes. The sun, the moon, the stars. The Romance dawn trio, the triggers—Luffy, Zoro & Nami.
It is almost serendipitous, how it all comes into a full circle.
Luffy got his moon and stars. And Zoro and Nami got their sun.
OG3 edit ❤️
okay so I've been thinking about this and what if kutner had to interact with the OG3 (well, more than he does in canon), like, what missed connections and potential they have (yes, he and foreman already worked together but they honestly didn't interact a whole lot lol). feel free to disagree these are just my opinions:
KUTNER + FOREMAN:
lmao. the facts are that foreman and kutner are two people who are never gonna be best friends. but that does not mean they could never be friends at all. after... some amount of time they could, maybe, warm up to each other? it's telling that foreman is the only person in diagnostics that kutner never really tries to befriend/is shown to like. foreman seems to think of kutner as a "wimp", and isn't impressed by his schtick of being the fun-loving reckless guy who doesn't take himself seriously. from kutner's POV, foreman is a super serious guy, he is forced to respect because house says so, a guy who is put in charge when house is away. kutner is somewhat defiant and doesn't like listening to people just because, y'know. he all but rolls his eyes at foreman's authority. based on most of their canon interactions they just... aren't impressed with each other. and I doubt the drug trial fiasco left a good impression on kutner lmao, he is pretty upset about it when he finds out.
they're also both reckless and at the same time, take issue with recklesness. but I mean... we sort of know what kinds of people kutner likes and he can get over bad first impressions (he is genuinely annoyed by amber at first but then ends up liking her! he even had a thing for her!)... I DON'T KNOW... it's just that kutner likes needling people, he likes poking and proding at people which is something that i don't think foreman would reciprocate with him, I guess.
i feel like if foreman saw that kutner is actually ambitious and can be serious, he'd like him more. I don't think they hate each other or anything, I think kutner can see how foreman was good for thirteen, who is his friend, foreman is genuinely affected by his death, maybe they did like each other a bit by the time kutner dies. just. yknow they don't have personalities that mesh well. i do think they could have some kind of mentorship? perhaps, but I can't really see kutner wanting foreman to be his mentor lol
KUTNER + CHASE:
hmm. in some ways, they're basically the same guy. under the surface, though, they're pretty different. kutner is sort of nosy which chase doesn't exactly like, he doesn't seem to like people prying into his life. but kutner is a hypocrite because he doesn't like when people pry into his life either lmao. they both love to deflect. I think they could genuinely become friends, though, but never really develop that close of a friendship where they confide in each other.
they could talk about conspiracy theories and science fiction while kicking a soccer ball around lol, I do think they could have gotten along well. or judge each other, be like "that guy is sooooo lame" about the other despite the amount of things they have in common. or both. maybe they could hunt bigfoot together. there is an AU where kutner lives and chase invites him to the bachelor party.... I feel like if they got drunk they'd come up with great (read: stupid) ideas together and do dumb shit
also they both liked amber what was up with that
KUTNER + CAMERON:
POTENTIAL !!! l really love how chase and thirteen are basically best friends in canon (once they actually interact), and I think it would be so fun and would make sense if kutner and cameron also had the potential to form a genuine friendship in some alternate universe. they are basically fated to be best friends too!!! cameron is kind of... insane, honestly. she is pretty intense, she will fight on the hill she is on, she gets into fights with basically everyone but chase in seasons 1 to 3. which is why she tends to get on well with easy-going people: aka chase. but kutner is easy-going too. not to say that he doesn't have ego or a spine, because he does, but he also... knows how to pick his battles and push back against people without setting them off and won't die on every hill lmao.
they have a bunch in common, too: they're both damaged people drawn to other damaged people, and both want to help, although cameron tends to go overboard into for-your-own-good teritorry, but kutner is pretty good at getting through to her and helping her realize that that's not the way to go (see: the itch), in a way that doesn't bother her. they're both deeply compassionate and kind, they're both silly and friendly and sentimental (they both love christmas!), they've both lost people and know what that is like. they both try to see the world and people for what they could be in spite of how hurt they've been (although kutner is kinda resigned to the fact that the world's unjust, meanwhile cameron always tries to prove that the world is as fair as she thinks it should be). i think kutner is another person that would respect cameron's whole dead husband thing, but without idealizing the whole thing like chase does.
cameron loves creativity and intelligence and talent, which kutner has plenty of! kutner admires morals and and the desire to do good in the world, which cameron has. i think kutner would just find her very endearing. and if cameron needs to learn to respect other people's choices, I think kutner is pretty capable of teaching her that lesson.
if cameron figured out that kutner was struggling mentally/was suicidal, she'd be a bit unbereable and pushy about it, but honestly? MAYBE kutner does need someone to help him and be pushy about it, someone who cares and is able to see past him deflecting and who WILL reach out! aka cameron. maybe he DOES need to be bullied a bit by someone who cares... and if cameron gets a bit unbearable, kutner is capable of advocating for himself, he has a backbone. conclusion: they could and should have been best friends!!!!
LMAO

I am a little busy today, but I did these sketches yesterday of the OG3 next to the RAs, now that it's more cemented that I need to distinguish them since I'm using both! And a bonus Kristoff.
I should be running a session of the TTRPG tonight, so wish me luck! They've been on my mind.

Rosamund: Cora, you can’t marry Robert!
Cora: Why not?
Rosamund: Well, um, how are you going to feel when he sees you without any makeup?
Cora: I’m not wearing makeup right now.
Rosamund: Holy crap, you’re beautiful!
