just redraw a moment from ofmd
Be gone foul thing [tumblr live]!
i want to make a 3d model of a lighthouse and a kraken so obviously i look up Barbados lighthouses and the oldest was built in the 1850s and NONE OF THEM look like the one in the show SO
i guess the closest from the painting would be South Point Light
which was built in 1852
also
idk what to make of this but this show doesnt give a shit about accuracy and i love it

Zukka week 2022
Day 6: accidental dating (or dads zukka)
Based on FLWOGB (@oldpotatoe), in one of the ways (I think, more headcanon) my favorite secondary character, Miura, noticing when Zuko and Sokka were flirting and practically acting like a couple.
And yes, also based in OFMD blackbonnet scene (love that coupleeeee❤).
[I love drawing Miura again, she is my favoriteeee!]

Educational Historical Videos for OMFD
As a historical costumer at times, and a historical writer a lot of the time, sometimes this is just the kind of thing I watch. Some of this I hunted up in particular.
As we know, OFMD isn’t overly concerned with being too historically accurate, but I DO think that a good understanding of actual historical convention is a help rather than hindrance when writing/making art, so you can be inspired and know when to throw it out the window.
Food:
Townsends (Historical food youtube channel and living historians focused on 18th century American settlers. Very in depth and soothing content.)
Salt Pork Rations for Sailors, etc.
Grog as navy rations
Stockfish sailor rations.
Ship’s Biskit/Hard Tack (Tasting History also has an ep on hard tack and grog, but I really like the accurate history of Townsends.
Sailor rations: burgoo (oatmeal)
They have a whole playlist of 18th century soldier’s rations videos.
Historical writing series (cutting quills, making ink, etc.)
(Their entire channel would be great for what people in the colonies on land would be eating.)
Clothing:
Gentleman getting dressed in 18th century with servant’s help
Here’s a man dressing himself (with rear nudity!)
This one isn’t as detailed but includes a woman and interesting shots of period makeup.
Nicole Rudolph’s OFMD themed look at Gentleman’s Dress in the OFMD time period. Very detailed.
Her second video on what working class (i.e. most) pirates would have worn.
Also see the first video below for more historical pirate clothing.
Pirate Specific:
Gold and Gunpowder: a YT channel focused on historical piracy. Good historical sources and attitude, although video quality isn’t the absolute highest at all times.
Pirate Clothes, Jewelry, Tattoos
A fascinating video on Blackbeard, including Stede Bonnet
Incredibly useful: Sections, Directions and Parts of a Pirate Ship
Also a whole video on Sloops, which is what the Revenge is
the story im putting out tomorrow on @queer-triple-a for An Assumptive Anthology is maybe my favorite story I’ve written. It’s lesbians in victorian england. They’re gay and in love. I love them both with my whole heart and I cannot wait to share them!!!!!
It also has a (not so subtle) OFMD reference, but I don’t remember if that’s in the first or the second part of it..........
