((What sucks more than not being able to open your wine bottle?))
oh man they made us(the new ones) get "initiated" to our summer camp my camp name is gonna be Kirby B) (though I hesitated between that and Zelda)
TRICIA GET OFF TUMBLR YOU HAVE TWO FINALS TO STUDY FOR
So I'm studying for my haematology exam and I am reading about T lymphocyte maturation (them immune cells that attack foreign substances when they infect your body). They develop in the thymus where they get their fancy receptors and go through this thing called 'thymic education', starting from these pre T cells, that to me at this point are analogous to young kindergartners going to school. There's this whole complex gene rearrangement and proliferation and differentiation to finally become CD3+T cells. Then the 'education' happens, where they are supposed to interact with other cells in thymus like macrophages and dendritic cells etc. So, cool so far, kindy kids interacting with other kids, see how they fit in. BUT GUESS WHAT. 95% of them FAIL and are KILLED.
BUT, says she, THE KIDS WERE SO YOUNG SO FULL OF POTENTIAL AND HOPE
Thanks Science, for teaching me not to ever empathise with young white blood cells. Because they might die. Like kindergartners.
