Ce pilier en briques, construit en 1937, arbore la Rune Odal intégrée dans sa maçonnerie. Ce monument historique particulier est situé à Prudnik, en Pologne (territoire qui faisait partie de l'Allemagne avant 1945).
Pendant l'époque de l'Allemagne nazie, la rune Odal a été intégrée dans l'iconographie du régime. Elle symbolisait la terre, la lignée et le patrimoine de sang (Blut und Boden).
Ce symbole était fréquemment apposé sur les piliers ou les façades des fermes et domaines désignés comme « Erbhof » (fermes héréditaires) dans le cadre de la loi sur la santé agraire du Reich. Ce programme, supervisé par le ministère de l'Alimentation et de l'Agriculture du Reich, visait à préserver l'héritage des familles de paysans allemands sur plusieurs générations en leur accordant des avantages fiscaux, tout en leur interdisant de vendre leurs terres.
Au-delà du monde agricole, la variante de cette rune avec des empâtements (comme celle visible ici) est devenue l'insigne officiel du RuSHA (Bureau central pour la race et la colonisation de la SS), l'organisme nazi chargé de contrôler la pureté raciale des membres de la SS et d'organiser la colonisation des terres à l'Est.

ODAL-A NEW BEGINNING
Having an office extension on our little cottage built for me to work in and am proud to be using local stone and a local builder, maintaining the vernacular architectural tradition of the region. I decided to engrave one of the stones with the Old English Ēðel rune which means "estate" or "Inherited property" and is a fitting mark for a property in England.
