Starting Heathenry is a ritual-focused online course which will furnish you with the knowledge and confidence to practise the Heathen religion alone or with others, making wise decisions about worship based on reliable historical evidence. The course teaches you how to construct Heathen prayers for yourself, not according to the established rites of any modern group, but according to what historical sources show.

Starting Heathenry assumes you are interested in Germanic paganism, know about the gods and myths, and want to begin practising this religion, but require guidance on how to do so. It is based on a micro-learning structure which is proven to improve knowledge retention by 18-80% in students compared to other learning methods. The 10 lessons include over 50 videos, and quizzes to access from your phone or computer.

King Alfred the great was an early Anglo Saxon king, who fought against pagan Danes and united disparate Germanic tribes to help form England.

The Victorian novelist and historian, Sir Walter Besant, described King Alfred as,

“The typical man of our race - call him Anglo Saxon, call him American, call him Australian - the typical man of our race at his best and noblest.”

In 1990 a statue of Alfred was unveiled at Alfred University, New York USA. But many of the students and faculty opposed this, saying he represented the image of the ‘Dead White European Male".

Even Dr Linda Mitchell, a professor of medieval studies at the university said “it would be foolish to choose a symbol so exclusive and effective in emphasizing the straight white male power structure of history.”

It took months working with a designer to reconstruct this 6x god head Saxon motif for the back of this heavy duty cotton shirt.

It is adorned with motifs sourced from ancient Sweden, Denmark and Anglo-Saxon England.

Two wooden shields dating to the 3rd century CE, found at Thorsberg Moor in northern Germany. The moor is a peat bog in which the anaerobic environment has allowed articles like clothing and these shields – likely from Iron Age Germanic burials – to survive to the present day.
