it fascinates me from lore viewpoint. like. natlan machines are relicts after the dragon civilization. that lasted from 6000 to 2000 yrs ago according to wiki. and would you look at that!! the khaenri'ah, that made all other ruin drakes, was also established 6k years ago. that's rather long overlap in which, i think, the scientists of both nations and species collaborated to create this.
when i was looking up wiki for this post i noticed there is one working specimen like this - aeonblight boss monster. since it's a boss, it's way stronger than normal variants, which would support the theory that it's partially involving dragon technology as like, a prototype. maybe the mass produced were cheaper and thus weaker because they substituted dragon tech with only locally sourced parts
