#oc frederick

I thought I'd better design Melissa's and Frederick's other parents, so I've done these family portrait-style pictures. I chose to do it in greyscale to mimic a black and white photograph.

Melissa's mother is called Helen (Melissa has it as a middle name). I decided that since Barnaby doesn't have Melissa's distinctive hairline, it must have come from her mother. Helen loved sewing, particularly embroidery, and she made all of Melissa's baby clothes herself.

Frederick's father is named Alfred Hunter (so that's also Frederick's surname). He was a wealthy and successful businessman, and very well respected.

Going with the last 10 things I posted or updated on ao3, for ease of accounting...

Elsa drove further along the highway, into the unknown. 

“You have no proof,” Lars said flatly, staring across the table.

Eugene sat on the bed and stared back at Rapunzel.

Charlotte sat at her writing desk.

Elsa was surprised at just how warm it could get in the summer this far north, but with the sun never quite setting, perhaps she shouldn’t have been that surprised. 

It was once again nearly time to ring the Yule Bell. 

The lights of the carnival midway flashed and twinkled as Anna and Kristoff walked along.

“Hold me in your arms, Charlie,” Sibby asked, leaning into him.

The mountain meadows were bathed in the early morning sunlight, the fjord in the distance was still cast in the shadows of the peaks for a few more hours.  

“Fine, I give up,” Frederick said, getting tired of the spontaneous game of charades his younger brothers had decided to play.

Klaudia likes everything to be Just Right. (Hence why she complains about Barnaby's messy office)

I think my favourite part of this is actually Melissa's surprised face. She was probably deep in thought and got jumpscared.

The inherent tension between an older sister and a younger brother in the 1890s.

Melissa's thoughts on her relationship with Klaudia, through comparisons to what stepmothers are like in stories. I was thinking mostly of Cinderella, but also of Snow White. Melissa didn't read fairy tales very often, and wouldn't readily admit to doing so, but she's familiar enough with them to draw comparisons.
