â IT DOESNâT HAVE TO BE LIKE THIS ! CINDER ... â  reptile kneels down to the maiden, whoâs on her knees before her with tears flooding down visage.  â you donât have to fight me anymore. â the loving tone in her voice rings true, &&. her affections are only proven further as she cups a hand to cradle autumnâs cheek ( i know you donât want to hurt me. i know she sent you after me. ). whoâd have thought that fall maiden would crumble beneath her feet, emotions finally bleeding through the vicious mask she put on all these years ? sheâs never said it before, but she doesnât think about the words she speaks before she says them out loud. â iâm right here. &&. i love you. â

Outer Worlds Video Game Review
5 STARS OUT OF FIVE
There is nothing derivative about The Outer Worlds - it is a spiritual successor to Fallout New Vegas. It is indeed not a bad thing to compare to Fallout or even from getting confused with Outer Wilds. Itâs very easy to take one great look at this game and compare it to Obsidianâs cult- favourite, New Vegas but it doesnât just play like a Fallout game.Â
This game really adapts the aspects of the previous Fallout games, emphasizing immersive and atmospherically exploration and impactful, action-oriented combat with the help of Unreal Engine which produces good results. In addition, the art styles from its loading screens and itâs tone with its bleak future borrows heavily from Fallout. However, unlike the other recent Fallouts, it has the same depth of soul as New Vegas and the earlier Interplay Fallout games which craft a complex, interconnected narrative of relationship and events that change different ways of choices that your character wanted it to be.Â
The game starts off with you among thousands of people left in hibernation but was woken up from crazed scientist who is wanted by the authorities. After a character creation process involving a slew of accommodating asset attributes, perks and such, you crash land on an unknown planet with only your wits about you to do what you want in this RPG. That and like New Vegas, a number of factions to gain reputation by.Â
For gaining attributes after every level, again, it feels like a Fallout game. At the start, you assign what type of what your character should be - whether it is to pursue a âup-close-and personalâ melee character or a stealthy, lock/hacker whoâs pursuing that category. Although, the main attributes are only set at the beginning, after that, you accommodate your skill points towards the player mechanics tiers ranging from body, mind and personality which will then unlock after accommodating many points towards that like bodyâs handguns, long guns and heavy weapons to personality; determination, intimidate and persuade. Perks are also âtiered upâ which will unlock once up level up, gaining a point to pick a perk. It feels like more experimenting to do on what type of play style you can accomplish in Halycon.Â
Much like thereâs many other features that may remind you of a Bethesda RPG, there are some that remind you of Mass Effect - particularly the ship that you hijack, The Unreliable which you assume the role of Captain Alex Hawkthrone. There is also an AI on board called ADA who might remind you of EDI from those Mass Effect games from being a comic relief and a sentient AI. The ship itself unlike the Normandy, doesnât require fuel while traveling around during the system map screen to other planets or sending probes to mine resources. There is a workbench on board to improve/add mods to your weapons and armor and you can chat among your companions that had acquired or hear their humourous banter. Other than that, there is nothing else to do on board the ship.Â
Speaking about companions, there are six of them that you can get throughout the story. Following Bethesda's Fallout 4, you can pick two companions to follow you around and can set their behaviour towards âaggro-ingâ your enemies or playing a defensive formation besides you as you kill marauders or âyao guaiâ looking creatures when exploring. You can also outfit them with weapons and armor but one annoying aspect of them, that of which was in the Fallout games is making them a pack mule for your arms necessities. Itâs rather irritating sometimes when you finally find a better weapon from a marauder/raider and get encumbered by it (I know that thereâs a perk that can fast travel you back to town). Each companion has a special ability/move, you can use against your enemies. Itâs feels like a limit break everytime you pull one off with your companions, and it is so sweet to execute those abilities.Â
As much as I compare this game over and over with similar and not so derivative features, The Outer Worlds is just a treat to play. Obsidian really hit the nail on the head with this one, being rather a spiritual successor to New Vegas. It feels like they took parts of that game and also among others to craft it into something wonderful. Even the Fallout-jank is still there and it wasnât that bad, it is just a blast to see a bunch of huge mantis(es) all piled up and twitching. My playthrough with it ended like 25 hours in three sittings, not bad for a Fallout- esque game but there is definitely indeed more playthroughs to start over again. I cannot stress how fun it was playing this game.Â
