Obasi headcanons please? I think he's super underrated and he deserves some love!
Agreed, Anon! So here's my best attempt:
- He's a bit of an odd dragon, even by Dream Weavers standards. Sometimes he speaks in actual riddles, other days he uses rhymes. He can appear out of nowhere, but then suddenly he's in another place entirely, defying the laws of time and space. He can stay quiet for days, even weeks at a time, but if you say one word to him, he'll turn into an the open chatter box that has zero filters. If you offer him something, for example a shiny rock, he'll be the happiest dragon in the lands, no matter how many of the same rocks he already has in his collection. But overall, he's a good natured goofball who's sole worry is to bring a smile to other dragons that might be going through a rough time. He's especially good with baby dragons and younglings.
- He has never taken off his jester cap. Not even once. At least while in presence of others. Whatever he's concealing underneath, it's a secret that remains between him and the dragon gods. Does he have a really bad haircut? An embarrassing scar? Is he bald? Or is he just insecure? Who knows, but he sure likes leaving everyone else guessing. The Fools have tried to steal his cap as a prank at some point. Only to find out there was another underneath it. And another. And another and so forth. They have officially give up after that incident.
- The giant crystal embedded in his staff comes from space. When he was very young, during a great meteor shower that passed through the Dragon Realms, he just happened to stumble upon it, laying in the center of a big crater. It's the main source of power for his particular brand of Dream Weaver Magic, one he had to study and practice long in order to master, and it's truly his most precious treasure. If anyone would dare to steal it from him, he would genuinely snap and stop at nothing to retrieve it.
- He had a biting problem when he was little. He was a tiny menace that would leave bite marks on any type of furniture or objects that were unfortunate enough to catch his eyes. Which explains why he has such giant, impressive chompers. Even if he has 'grown out' of his phase, some of his fellow dragons have even seen him bite through actual pieces of solid crystals as a way to 'distress'.
