NPCIL Rating Highlights Future of Nuclear power India
CARE Ratings has reaffirmed NPCIL's AAA/A1+ ratings despite a moderation in operating performance during FY26. The rating report records a nuclear plant load factor of about 79% and debt-to-EBITDA of around 15.1 times, reflecting the financial impact of ongoing capacity expansion.
NPCIL is developing approximately 6.1 GW of new nuclear capacity while supporting India's long-term ambition of achieving 100 GW by 2047. The SHANTI Act, which allows private participation in nuclear generation, is expected to strengthen financing options and accelerate sector growth.
