Power Sector News in India
REC Power Development and Consultancy Ltd. has launched a Power Transmission concession to evacuate power from the 2,400 MW Pirpainti thermal project in Bihar. The package combines four GIS substations, new 400 kV, 220 kV and 132 kV transmission corridors, LILO works and transformation facilities within a single 35-year BOOT concession. The successful bidder will acquire the project SPV, develop the complete network and maintain 98% availability throughout the concession period. Land acquisition, financing, construction and lifecycle maintenance remain the responsibility of the transmission developer, while the assets will transfer to the state at the end of the concession. The integrated structure highlights the growing preference for large-scale Transmission Infrastructure concessions that combine evacuation and network reinforcement under one tariff-based contract.
