Analysis
Yeonho: That only exists on TV. In reality, things like that don't happen so easily.
This scene in Red's route involves Red and Yeonho watching Red's favourite cartoon together, when Red asks Yeonho's opinion on his chances of getting his special powers. Yeonho answers bluntly that he doesn't believe in the powers, saying that it's unrealistic
At first glance, he sounds hypocritical. It's possible for dolls to turn to humans and for Yeonho to be able to speak to ghosts and animals, so why isn't it realistic to say that Red might have special powers?
Although Red's powers are as magical as Yeonho's, I think what Yeonho's talking about isn't whether or not Red has powers, but rather about whether it's possible for something to happen just because he believes that it will
Yeonho: Nothing will change just because you believe.
Yeonho's cynicism comes across as shocking, as Eri points out...
I thought I heard it wrong too and looked at Yeonho. Although what Yeonho said was cold, it was realistic. But I was surprised to see Yeonho be so cynical when he always avoided confrontation.
...because of his cute and innocent appearance, but it makes complete sense.
During Yeonho's route, when telling Eri about his previous owner, he says that he hoped that one day, his owner may no longer abuse him, but may love him again if he stayed good. He cares about Red and wants to warn him that, when he realises that this belief isn't realistic, he'll be incredibly depressed, as Yeonho learned through experience.
Red's belief in his special powers though isn't quite the same as Yeonho's belief that his owner might forgive him.
Yeonho's explanation for why his owner abuses him is that it's caused by his own perceived actions in being a bad doll, and the issue will be remedied when he keeps being good enough.
Yeonho's issues are perceived to have been caused by his actions; Red's issues are perceived to have been caused by his existence.
There is nothing at all that Red did to cause his being the only Red type doll. He simply is in this situation, in which he can only prove that he is worth anything by achieving something literally impossible, for reasons unknown to him. It's unclear just how close to his creation it was that he learned this, but if he found out about this immediately after being made, then...my God.
Not to mention that Yeonho's belief is largely more realistic, considering that his owner did used to love him. Red has absolutely nothing to prove that if he believes in his special powers, then he might get them, and will, in turn, no longer be just a failed model.
Accepting that his belief wasn't realistic for Yeonho meant accepting that his owner was simply not worth bending over backwards for. However, accepting that he doesn't have special powers, means accepting that Red will just never be good enough and that he always was and will be a failure.
When pouring his heart out to Eri about his belief in his special powers, Red says that he chose to believe in them because he "wanted to make a reason to live". As in. Without those powers, there just wouldn't be one at all.
Telling Red that his powers aren't realistic doesn't help him, not in the slightest. It's not a reality check that will help him get accustomed to the real world, it's the same as telling him that he has no reason to live.
His special powers and his belief in them is not just the result of a childish innocence, but rather the desperate reach for hope in a world that's so bleak and hopeless.
In place of telling him not to believe in special powers, the best thing to do in this situation is to try to convince him of his worth, without having to achieve the impossible
I need to draw something to Cheritzverse for Halloween...

I rly like knitting. N I'm getting better n better n better now, so I get better at makin more complicated stuff
I always wanted more Nameless merch. I thought it'd be a bit difficult to make cosplays of actual clothes from the games. So I had the rly cool idea to make projects using the colours associated with each character!!
This is my Lance shirt thing!!! Blues, white n sparkly grey (silver)!! Took until after I finished making it that I realised that Lance's design also has a lot of purple in it 😰 I bought purple today tho
Rly rly proud of this, the first attempt I've ever made at a shirt, only took me 3 days!! Next I make will definitely be much bigger and much less messy!!! So happy with how this all came out!!!!! 😊😊😊😊 so proud!!! 😁😁😁😁😁😁

Guys. I think I have a thing for this trope.
The trust. The vulnerability. The domesticity. The platonic, non-sexual nudity.
Why I love this trope so much, I DO not know.
On the 11th of November 2013, Nameless ~ The One Thing You Must Recall ~ was released
On the 29th December 2016 was when I first bought the full game, after enjoying the free demo beforehand.
666 hours and counting later, over the course of almost 7 years, Nameless has forever been my favourite game, one which I will never forget. It's story touched my heart immediately, and every time I replay it, I find something new about it to love.
I may not be able to draw or make fantastic art, so I can't express my passion for this game in the ways that I would like to. But there's a lot I'd give up for this game, it means so much to me.
Today I stepped into the tattoo shop in town for my first ever tattoo, dedicated to Cheritz, on the day of Nameless' 10th anniversary.
Nothin ever hurts as much as you're expectin it to :) heh. I love it!! ^^
Thank you Cheritz for a game that's shaped my life - and now my body ^^ 😂😂😂😁😊
