Thinking about what types of NPC invasions I could have in Realm of Spirits;
I’ve already mentioned doing a Melina themed one. Where if you inherit the Flame of Frenzy before going into this DLC then she appears to hunt you down several times throughout, growing increasingly stronger every invasion. Which would be fun because it gives ds2 Pursuer or resi Nemesis vibes. And gives more chances to learn Melina lore.
Would probably have an actual Death sorcerer, since we don’t get an invading npc version of one in base game. I think the closest you get is the side boss ‘necromancer’ in the cave near Gelmir with the Black Knife main boss. The necromancer only performs two sorceries really, and uses their weapon which is definitely a reference to Pinwheel.
I feel like Elden Ring had very few if any joke invasion npcs related to older games, so some of them might be neat. The closest they got was the silly wolverine in SOTE, otherwise all the others are more grounded in Elden Ring itself, like the volcano manor invasions. I feel like i’d make dumb npc invasions referencing movies or tv shows. Like having a Seven Samurai ref, or to match the logan meme npc energy, an Iron Man npc who’s in super heavy armour but uses Sorcery. Or even having a Jon Snow or White Walker game of thrones ref, since ykno GRRM and all…
If I did a covenant concept in the Realm of Spirits thats probably where npc invasions - or invaders - would be easier to outline. With more definitive reasons for why they invade etc. Maybe that route is tied to allying your Tarnished with the GEQ, aiding her in some manner by taking out threats to her territory within the Realm of Spirits…
As you can probably tell, i’m just writing to sound out ideas to myself more than anything else
