Mozilla Firefox için NPAPI desteğini 2016 sonunda durduracak

2016 sonu itibarıyla Mozilla Netscape Eklenti Uygulama Programlama Arayüzü (NPAPI) eklentilerine sunduğu desteği keseceğini açıkladı.

Mozilla NPAPI tarafından sunulan video akışı ve kopyalama panosu erişimi gibi birçok servis için artık yerel Web API ’larının bulunduğunu kaydetti ve bu nedenle böyle bir karar aldığını kaydetti. Kolaylık ve performansın yanı sıra, Mozilla NPAPI ’nin çeşitli güvenlik riskleri taşıdığını belirtiyor.

Mozilla ’nın söylediğine göre, internet tarayıcıları ve web büyüdükçe, NPAPI artık yaşlandığını belli ediyor. Eklentiler performans problemlerine, çökmelere ve güvenlik sorunlarına neden oluyor.

Google Chrome ve Microsoft Edge gibi internet tarayıcıları NPAPI eklentilerine verdikleri desteği çoktan kaldırdı, Mozilla ise onlardan biraz geç davranıyor gibi görünüyor. Bu arada Mozilla Flash desteğini sürdürmeye devam edecek. Şirket, genel eklenti politikasının bir istisnası olacak şekilde, Firefox ’ta Flash ’ı destekleyeceğini kaydetti.

Chrome recently abandoned Netscape Plug-in Application Programming Interface (NPAPI) support, meaning a lot of Java and Silverlight plugins will no longer work.

這幾天 Google Chrome 瀏覽器更新後封鎖了部分 JAVA （NPAPI）功能，讓我原本經常使用的 Chrome 網路銀行 ATM 轉帳功能失效（顯示元件下載中），只能回去使用 Internet Explorer，非常的痛苦。經過詢問網路上的朋友後得到解決方法，在這邊筆記下來，順便分享給也發生無法使用的朋友們。

接著在您的 Chrome 瀏覽器裡面輸入「chrome://flags/#enaable-npapi」開啟實驗性功能：

往下找到「啟用 NPAPI」功能後，執行畫面最下方的「立刻重新啟動」Google Chrome瀏覽器：

重啟後原本不能使用的網路ATM就正常了，爽快（如果您還是不能使用的話，記得要先裝最新版 JAVA 後重新開機再測）：

另外郵局的網路 ATM部分則比較複雜，首先您進入由於郵局網路 ATM 網站後必須要先下載外掛（請點我），接著執行「登入」，此時跳出的視窗裡面會有被阻擋元件通知，請手動選擇開啟「永遠允許」：

接著關閉 Chrome 重新進入郵局ATM頁面就應該能正常使用了（如果還是不能執行的話，記得開啟文章中的NPAPI）：

Just before a week before Unite 2014  the people over at Unity have just announced that they will be deploying the WebGL Add-on for Unity 5  free for both the Free and Pro users. 

This was a much debated topic on the Unity user forums, as the Add-On was originally planned to have a price tag associated with it. It was an unknown price tag, but everyone on the thread (Including myself) feared the worst. Which means at least a $1500 price tag just for  the privilege of using using tool that would allow people to play my games online without the need for a player.

Normally I wouldn’t think twice about a move like this. They developed the technology and spent the money where it was needed to make this a thing.  However, earlier that year Google had made an announcement. It would no longer support NPAPI. What is that? Hell if I know. All I know is that it would keep the free Unity Web Player from working on future versions of Chrome. So when December rolls around almost all of the unity games that rely on the web player won’t work with any updated Chrome Browser. The problem is still there and we will still have to deal with the fall out if Google goes through with dropping support for NPAPI.  It no longer matters as we now have an alternative when Unity 5 rolls out.

Great Decision Unity. I support it thoroughly.
