Arthur was standing in the back of the room, neatly put in a row together with other humans who had volunteered for the great honour of becoming a vampire’s companion. It was all still a little confusing to him, since he had only came into the house last week.
It had all gone much faster than he had anticipated when his adoptive father had come home with another man, who had introduced himself as Arthur’s father.
Arthur knew he was adopted, but still he had never thought he would meet his biological father. Once a businessman, now the man was nearly ruined and this was bad news for him but also for Arthur and his inheritance. The young man had hoped he would be able to help out his adoptive parents, but it seemed like money woudl be a real issue. His biological father, Uther, had suggested Arthur try the companion program.
His adoptive parents weren’t very enthusiastic but they had relented and Arthur had been accepted easily on looks and behaviour. This was his first presentation to a possible client and he was trying to keep his hands still. Nerves made it difficult for him to stand in one place, but he did his best. He didn’t expect to be picked, his grooming had just begun but the madam had put him in anyway, seeing as this client was rather special.
As they walked in, Arthur glanced up and swallowed. Vampires were beautiful, deadly creatures, but these were fine specimen of their kind. Realising he was staring, Arthur quickly looked back down until he was spoken to. “Arthur... my name is Arthur, sir.” He replied, licking his suddenly dry lips. Could he speak directly to this man? He supposed so since he stood right in front of him. “I’m sorry, I’ve only been here a week, I’m not sure of the protocol.”
