Racism and my Headscarf
Basically I just wanted to clear up one issue:
I AM NOT OPPRESSED
When i went to Scotland last Summer a little kid asked me
"why do you wear a headscarf"
me: "Because I am a Muslim"
his brothers "whispering": "is she bald"
the answer to that is NO. I wear a headscarf purely out of my own choice!
I hate it when people automatically make the assumption that just because i wear a headscarf I am oppressed.
OK some (and by that i mean very few) Muslim women (Muslimah) are forced into wearing a headscarf. But when France did the Hijaab ban, was it the men who went protesting? I don't think so.
So HA!
It makes me happy to see hijabis wearing brand clothing, one of the many proofs that we are NOT oppressed.
