okay so i might think about my own private idaho so much that it bleeds into every area of my life and i'm just imagining this coincidence. BUT i came across this album today (stoned & dethroned by the mary and jesus chain) and immediately the road imagery as well as general stylisation reminded me so so much of mopi... i mean...
anyways i'd listened to one of their albums before so i decided to check this out as well because i enjoyed the first and OH. literally when i tell you every. single. song. matches. mopi?? okay not so much in terms of mentioning place-specific details or anything but in terms of feeling and if you imagine it to be mike to scott. word for word, every single song, every single lyric pretty much.
here are some examples (there are a ton more):

OKAY and to add to that. one of the tracks features shane macgowan from the pogues (mopi ends with "the old main drag" by the same band...) AND. this album was released on 23 august 1994. the date that would have been river's 24th birthday. no genuinely what you cannot tell me this isn't linked in some way ???
anyways to conclude this rant! i'm beyond happy that i found this album because it's the perfect thing to play when i want to think about mopi 🥹 i've kind of overplayed the playlist i made a while back and this was such a pleasant listen (i'll definitely have to revisit it a bit to develop a full opinion on the music itself though but i really enjoyed it)
